[On whether the line in the song Sara, 'When you build your house, I'll come by' is about Don Henley, whom she was dating at the time?]
(laughs) That is true. He did [build the house]. And I was in it before he finished it.
~Stevie Nicks, Us magazine, July 1990
But, look at what she really said here. Maybe somewhere else she admitted it was about Don, but here she didn't. All she said was that it was true Don built a house and that she had been there. LOL. I think Stevie is so clever to let people assume what her songs are about. It's almost as if she says, hey, I've already told you...figure it out.

No one knows how I feel, What I say unless you read between my lines...

I think with Stevie most of the time, you've gotta look beyond the literal and go for the figurative. She's such a poet.

Well, Don said it first and then she said it's true that he was building a house and she was there before it was complete. But he put it out there first. Michele

It's just nice to finally hear her talk like a real person. Not that she's never sworn before, but I don't think she's ever tossed out something like that in an interview.

"Crash Into Me"
written by Dave Matthews
"Oh, as soon as that song came out I said, I want it. I want to do that song! And the answer from every single person was, 'This is really a man’s song, you can’t do it.' So I was like, “Alright, whatever,” but in my head I said, ‘But I will do this song. It’s a twisted song, so I’ll just twist it even more, and make it fit me.' Now live, where he would sing 'In a boy’s dream' I have the [backup] girls go 'And the boys sing...' Then I can do those lines: [singing] 'Hike up your skirt a little more, and show your world to me.' Dave’s actually very sexual, his writing. But I don’t know if he likes it or not. I invited him to come to the taping for PBS, and he never got back to us. I thought he would! But you know, his wife was having a baby, I think."

How rude. It's one thing to turn her down, but to not even get back to her. How disrespectful! Plus she has also said in a radio interview this week that she has still not heard from him about how he likes the cover Do you guy's not find all this kinda strange? or just arrogant and rude?

Stevie doesn't have the same amount of media clout that she once had. Back in the 80's, as she stated, she could just ask and get Prince's phone number and call him directly. I think Dave's not calling back bothered her. Maybe once a few dollars start rolling in from the iTunes/Amazon downloads he'll pay her some attention. Yes, it's rude.

Before I had thought that she was actually expecting Dave for her PBS special but that he had to back out at the last minute. I didn't understand that she never even heard back from him.

I don't know if it's rude or not. I mean, it's hard to know how many queries these guys (including Fleetwood Mac members) get as songwriters from other celebrities who want to do their songs. They could get dozens a week. And if the queries aren't from big wigs like Paul McCartney maybe you don't go out of your way to acknowledge them, which doesn't mean you don't like and respect the performer. Just means you don't have time. The person who wants to do the song doesn't need permission to go forward, so I often get a feeling that a lot of the songwriters don't usually contact an artist unless they do NOT want them to cover their songs. I just always hear them on tv a lot (like Dolly Parton when she was promoting her cover album Those Were the Days) saying they haven't heard from so-and-so.

I remember Lindsey joked that Donovan was probably angry about his rendition of Try for the Sun. He even did a little accent, when he imitated Donovan's supposed wrath. Lindsey obviously hadn't gotten any feedback from him either.

I hear what you're sayin' and I agree, but it's Stevie Nicks, not Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears. Dave Mathews strikes me as sort of old school and would have some respect for his peer's. If he's too busy to even get back to her, he has "people" that could do that. Stevie's trying to find excuses for him by saying "I think his wife was having a baby". That's kinda sad.

^We are talking about a guy whose tour bus driver dumped 800 pounds of **** into the Chicago River onto a boatload of tourists below.

I know, I know. Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, it's probable that Dave and the band knew nothing about it. I'm just sayin'.
