David, welcome to the Ledge, first of all...secondly, I LOVE your screen name!! LOL Check out my sig down there...LINDSEY RULES (and ROCKS!!!)!!
![]() I pray this is not the last studio album, I mean, they all look so good (well, John looks a lil rough..LOL) and healthy!! They really are one of the few great-looking bands that are over 50!! If I didn't know the history of the band, I would say "GET OUT OF TOWN!!" if you told me any of them had drug/drinking problems!! Anywho...I agree with everyone who said Stevie WILL NOT be retiring any time soon, she's married to this career and will keep on truckin'!! I'm glad she's not like some rockers (i.e. Grace Slick) who have stopped rockin' out to paint. Stevie can paint when she's 80!! They need to give us at least ONE more album (I would KILL for TWO!!!!) before they all hang it up!! I hate that I came into the band so late in their "life" because I missed out on alot (including The Dance, a time when LOTS of younger fans fell in love with them), but I found Lindsey and FM for a reason and everything happens for a reason. Good gravy, I sound like a Hallmark card...or John Mayer. LOL Anyways...I am holding out hope that GOS makes it to the light of day and Lindsey gains TONS of fans on this tour!!!! PLEASE GOD, let him get the credit he DESERVES!!!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome Christy -
I totally agree. Lindsey really has never received the credit he deserves. Let's face it...without him that classic FM sound would've never existed. He was the one who pushed the artistic envelope. Don't get me wrong. Stevie and Christine are great songwriters, and things wouldn't have been the same without them either. But it took Lindsey's keen artistic senseability to transform those songs into the classic sound that we all know and love. I mean, look what happened when FM tried to do Behind the Mask. The songwriting was good, but it wasn't the "classic" sound - Lindsey should get the credit for that. Although I must say that in kind of a odd and indirect way, he did get some recognition, as both BTM and Time didn't really do that well. Yet the Dance comes along and debuts at number one (without any new "studio" material). At least, I think it debuted at number one (someone correct me if I'm mistaken), but it was at least in the top ten - and it was a LIVE album - lol. Out Of The Cradle, IMHO, sounded closer to that classic sound than anything FM did after he left. And the same goes for how he did Fleetwood Mac songs on his solo tour during that time (I had front row seats here in Seattle!!) - they sounded way better than when FM tried to do them without him on the BTM tour. david |

![]() I agree Lindsey's still got plenty of music and energy left in him, and that he's totally not doing it for the $$, and that we are far from hearing/seeing the last of Mr. Buckingham. I also agree with Christy about Stevie...she'll be recording till she's 80...and I'm sure we will hear-- at the very least-- another album with the two of them on it, with or without Mick, John and/or Christine. However, I disagree that it's no longer as time consuming to make music. If you read that guitar player magazine interview with Lindsey, he admits he still uses tape, not recording software . I don't think he was all that quick to produce Stevie's music this time, at least not any faster than he's done in the past. I don't think Stevie's music has ever taken him very long to work with. It seems he just instinctively knows what to do with it! But as optimistic as I am, I don't think Lindsey's own music output pace is going to get much speedier. I think the fact that he's got two young children is an acceptable excuse. It would make sense that he would have learned enough to speed up the pace, but even if he has, I think he'll always do the studio hermit thing and take years playing with a song till its music to his ears. ![]() -Sonia

You make some good points Sonia. And maybe you're right. I really don't know for sure. But I have a feeling that, regardless of technology, he's learned a lot about his craft - about how to get some of what he's after more quickly. I could be totally wrong - this is all specualtion of course, and that aspect of what I'm saying could be totally baseless. I would like to read that Guitar Player interview though and see what he has to say
Thanks for your warm welcome david |

Wondergirl...I was fortunate enough to see Lindsey play his Out Of The Cradle show at a small venue, The Roseland in Portland, Oregon. He opened solo with Big Love and Go Insane. He immediately blew the audience away. Then, once his army of guitarists and the rest of the band joined in, everyone became nearly overwhelmed by this huge wall of sound and passion that filled the room. I've been to hundreds of shows and concerts since 1979, and Lindsey's was one of the most memorable. I recall observing, during the show, people with their jaws open in disbelief about power of what they were hearing and seeing. The place was packed (1,500?) and Lindsey put all his sweat, energy and soul into every second of the performance. The crowd was hyped (in a good way!) at a level I've never really experienced before or since. Who knew there were so many die-hard Lindsey fans in Portland? One menacing audience member shouted out "Where's Stevie?" in between songs. The audience chuckled while Lindsey smirked and laughed.

Lucky you!! I would have been like this --->
if that knucklehead yelled out "Where's Stevie?"!! LOL I'm glad to hear that Lindsey just laughed it off...I'm sure that hurt him tho on the inside. How cool that there were so many people there to see Lindsey!! YAY!! You don't know how bad I want those wierdos to actually make a time machine so I can go back to 1992 and see Lindsey live!! I am dying for this album/tour to begin!!!!!!!!!

yep PenguinHead, you nailed it. I was front row center at the Seattle show and it really did kick ass. Lindsey opened with acoustic versions of Go Insane and Big Love before launching into Don't Look Down with the full "guitar army" and band. I remember just being in awe of my "idol". He did all kinds of stuff at that show -- "Trouble"and "Holiday Road" were a couple of real treats. From OOTC he did "Soul Drifter", "This is the Time", "Doing What I Can" (I think), "All My Sorrows", "Street of Dreams", and I'm sure some other stuff. I don't really remember everything he did, as this was ten years ago. I do remember him doing quite a bit of FM stuff too - such as "The Chain" and "I'm So Afraid".
One thing I do remember him not doing was "Countdown" (one of my favorites from OOTC). He also didn't do much from his first two solo albums. But it was a awesome show. Also around 1500 people or so were there. And Christy, I didn't get to meet him - the opportunity just didn't present itself. I don't know what I would've said to him if I did though. I mean, what do you say to someone like that? I'm certainly not going to be one of those guys that meets his idol and says something stupid like "you know, I'm a musician too. I write my own songs" - lol. So I'm glad that situation never even occurred. david |

Oh, I forgot to thank you Christy for re-posting that Guitar Player link. I appreciate it. And special thanks to Brian for typing it up. Dude, YOU ROCK!!! I'm real interested in the technical stuff that Lindsey is doing and using to put forth his vision.

Hi Sonia and all the Lindsey fans! Yes there is one. It was a TV appearance called "Center Stage". After 5 years of fruitless search for a bootleg CD or sth like this on German CD/LP trade venues I finally got access to the Internet in 1997 and found so many sites and infos about FM and LB. So I got to know about that Center Stage thing, and after a while managed to find someone in the US who sent me several copies by UPS (for cash, but for me it was worth every cent)
The video (not an official one- it`s an taped thing) is a great one, surely not the same as the live thing was but I was pretty excited to finally get it... Surely somebody overseas can send you a copy! Have fun with it, Stefan ![]() |

Penguinhead and LindseyRocks, I saw that same show in Vancouver, Canada. I've written about it before on the Ledge, so other Ledgies may be tired of my saying so, but . . .
Like the Portland and Seattle shows, the audience was absolutely shellshocked when he opened with Big Love and Go Insane. It was just jaw-dropping. This woman sitting next to me looked at me with these huge eyes and said "this guy's a god." I say this with a straight face; those were her exact words. Vancouver's mainstream and alternative papers were uncharacteristically effusive in their reviews. The Vancouver Sun opened with "I don't know what the rest of Vancouver was doing last night, but those who attended Lindsey Buckingham's performance at the Commodore were treated to the best show at that venue in many years." Yeah, the FM songs he played were incredibly rich and passionate. To this day it's the best concert I've ever seen, and probably the best I will ever see--when would I ever again get to see him in a nightclub audience of 500 people or so, sitting in the front row? Thanks for jogging a good memory. |

I have CHILLS reading your review of the concert!! WOW!!! That lady saying Lindsey is a god!! I don't like when people say that about a human being because of my Christian background, but I get where she is coming from. She was in awe!! I'm sure I'll be in a HYPNOTIC HAZE when I go to see Lindsey/FM this summer!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
Vancouver!! I'm going to be visiting next year sometime!! I'm so excited to be coming to Canada!! I've heard so many good things about Vancouver!! ![]() Anywho...hearing your stories of seeing Lindsey is AWESOME, but sad too because it makes me wish I could have seen him, but I have to keep telling myself, "You will be seeing him soon!!" ![]() ![]()

If Nostradamus is as accurate as legend has claimed him to be, there's not enough time left in the world as we know it for Lindsey to complete another album after this Fleetwood Mac blitz. If the originator of this thread's calculations are even close, add a couple of years for "Buckingham's typical delays" that puts the "next" album at around 2012, the year the apocalyspe according to Nostradamus is to occur.
