Default What are you giving?

What are you giving for christmas?

It's the night of christmas eve already down here in melbourne and we're celebrating! My boyfriend and i are renting a house so his parents came to his place for the first time for ever and he and I already know most of what we're getting each other so we are already giving presents!

He had asked me if I would be available for some certain dates and it kind of let slip and was obvious that he was buying us tickets to the Australian Open and I just got us a kitten! So it was kind of obvious and no point in waiting til tomorrow when Winston (the cat) is already running around.

But he doesn't know that I bought him and myself little scooters each. His and hers kind of. We always thought they looked fun but thought we might be too old but who cares!

My parents live back in Scotland so for both parents we got professional phtographs of us done and the usual calender of australia for them and calender of scotland for his parents. We're just taking a break now and having a drink before we get back to it and I get to give him the scooter.

So what are you guys giving?

i didnt buy for anyone but immediate family this year. My sister got a replica of the Charlie Brown tree and a stocking full of goodies. My brother came to visit I helped him buy an LCD TV on my employee discount...(Saved him about $150)

The wife got a Harry Potter wand replica (the witch played by Tim Burtons wife)...a Build a Bear GC....the last book in the Twilight series...and a new pair of warm and fuzzy PJs

My brother and I donated a certain sum of $ in toys to Toys 4 Tots, and I gave a certain sum of $ to Feed The Children. I don't need anything this year, and so many other people do so I felt it was the right thing to do. =)

Since I've been receiving far more sympathy cards this year than Christmas cards, I'm just going to pretend that Christmas isn't happening this year.

Oh, and if you have a moment, please pray that I don't die in a stampede at ShopRite today. Somebody has to bag for the Mongol hordes, after all.

Bought my niece and nephew (My brother Geary's kidz) iPod gift cards since they're getting iPods for Christmas. Bought my sister-in-law a new Kenny Chesney (aka Kenny Cheesewad) cd and my bro the vinyl version of GNR's "Chinese Democracy" - otherwise that's all for me this year...

Gave $$$ to Toys For Tots, Went out to eat and left a $25 tip on a $8.99 meal at Applebee's for the server (As Deb & I had done for years at this time of year)

Not a joyous time as was the past 17+ years, obviously.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

That's the best gift. I just got home from midnight mass cause his family are catholic and it was pretty boring and pretty spectacular at the same time. They were passing around for money but preaching about praying for the homeless and all that and when we walked up we noticed a homeless man sleeping right near the cathedral so instead of giving more money to the catholic church we went outside and gave him a $50 note from us combined. The look on his face was the best part of the night! That's probably like what $5000 would be for me.

Well that was kind of the best part except his parents gave us $2000 and a $5000 loan interest free for a car! We've been saving and don't want to get a heap of junk that will cost us thousands more but don't want a brand new one and even if we did we couldn't afford it. So this is like perfect with the amount we've saved we can basically get the right kind of car.

I bought my hubby a beer making kit. He has been asking for that for awhile now.
I bought my son a copy of East of Eden hardcover book that he has been asking for a few months now. Our daughters got unique windchimes from the gift shop at a hotel in Portland that has really cool items to buy.
Our kids got a couple of presents from us and we always give them cash too since they don't receive that many presents from us anymore. The grandkids still get presents like books, trucks, games, videos, dolls since they're under 10 years old.

I have no idea what any of my Christmas presents are since my hubby was very secrative this year about them. The wrapping job they did is pretty interesting since my hubby and my son were both a little tipsy while they were upstairs wrapping them up. haha A few of us were playing poker and enjoying some mixed drinks about three hours ago. haha

That was so nice what you did for that homeless man! I agree with you, would rather give money to people that really need it and not a church.
