Question Rock a Little Tour Question

Hey guys,
Check out the link below. It's a T-shirt that someone is selling on ebay. But read the caption. What's the story there? I must have missed that one. Why and by whom was Stevie told she could not sing with Bob Dylan?

She DID perform w/ Bob Dylan...and she never did a solo world tour. This shirt's a fake...I hate people who sell bogus crap on ebay. I have that shirt and I don't thinks there's anything on the back of it. It says "Rock a Little" on one sleeve...

Have you seen the Brazilian Mirage tour DVD on ebay? They have the Behind the Mask incarnation of the band on the cover (WTF?). I emailed that dude and he admitted he didn't know where they came from, that he bought a bunch of them for his record store.

Isn't there a law that can keep people from doing these kind of things? Ebay should regulate and ban people who knowingly sell this stuff.

Hi Livia, wasn't the OTOSM/Whole Lotta Trouble tour, her one solo world tour?? I'm not sure exactly which countries were toured but I know she at least got over to England/Europe on that one!! Bella

i read somewhere that she almost didn't get to sing with dylan in australia cause she had trouble securing a work visa or something... i really don't remember the story very well... but something happened... she sang with him one night.. and there was something where they threatened to deport her or something if she didn't get a proper visa if she wanted to continue singing with him. anyone remember this story?

Yes I kinda remember that, I bet if you dove into the articles section on Nickfix there would be a story on it from that time.

Also, there is great info under tours and tourbooks at the above tabs on the ledge. It shows all the Australian tours dates for rock a little

This shirt might be the real thing. The image on the front was used on tour shirts for the U.S. shows--I definitely remember. I posted what I know about the Bob Dylan business on the Stevie/Tom Petty Live thread further down. Dylan & Petty played Australia in February 1986. Stevie went with them & got in trouble with the Australian government when she appeared onstage with them because she didn't have a work permit.

After her U.S. tour finished up at the end of August 1986 (the Long Beach Sports Arena benefit with Lindsey Buckingham), she went back to Australia to play a bunch of solo dates there. Maybe this shirt was sold in Australia during those shows. It makes sense that the merchandise people would have taken the design of one of the T-shirts from the U.S. concerts & adapted it for the Australian leg of the tour.

Yeah, even in Mick's autobio, he states that Stevie spents some time in the studio with the Mac between the US and Australian dates on her tour. Also, Australia is where Stevie reportedly fell off the stage during one of her dancing spins...

Randy

Not that Mick is the most accurate of sources...

Default From the 'Nicksfix' Hot Dates section:

September 2:
1981 - appeared solo on cover of Rolling Stone magazine
1982 - Mirage concert in Atlanta, GA
1986 - Rock A Little concert in Melbourne, Australia

Hope this clears everything up!!

Randy
