Default Triad

I purchased on amazon.com a copy of "Triad" by Mary Leader, a few months ago for only .60. I am currently taking the time to read this book before bed and I am on chapter 6. I am finding this book to be a little bit boring. Chapter 3 was the only thrilling chapter because you find out what happends to the little "brat" Rhiannon. I didn't realize that Rhiannon, was such a brat! She reminds me of a girl I knew in grade school. Always got away with everything, put the blame on others for her screw ups, making you look stupid....yeah-i've been there. What is everyone's thoughts on this book, and since I am on chapter 6, is it going to get somewhere, or get any better, because, I'm just not into this book, it's boring me. I know that Stevie said, that she thought the name Rhiannon, was beautiful and if she ever had a little girl that she would name her Rhiannon, and she just liked the sound of the name and wrote a song about just the name. So the song really has nothing to with the song, this I am aware of, but if you turn to page 29, Branwen goes on and on about Rhiannon, and says her name 3 times, just like in the song. It's pretty funny. What do you think?

The book really isn't that good, imo. It does drag on and the characters aren't very well-defined or peronable. I didn't find the character, Rhiannon, at all appealing or even likeable.

I got it too, in hardback no less. I have to laugh about this thread because I remember that Buckingham Nicks live version where she talks about Rhiannon being a character in a book and the says, almost under her breath, "well, she's really weird". LOL!

I also love how just before they play it she says to the band "now, don't play it too fast". It's really neat to hear Stevie so green and a little shy. I really love this version because it's way more rock and roll (and dare I say a little punk rock sounding) than the album version. And if you've ever wondered why the live version Fleetwood Mac used to play was so vastly different than the album version you can see here where they got the inspiration to do it that way.

Does the book say that the name Rhiannon is Welsh? Because she describes it as Welsh in that live performance. I thought she didn't find out about the myth of the Welsh Rhiannon until later when a fan sent her some book.

I got this book a few years ago from Ebay for 99p.

Whilst it wasn't the best book I've ever read, I was entertained enough to read it all in a day.

Throughout the story the main character mentions that her name (Branwen) and Rhiannon's are Welsh names. They are named after characters from the Mabinogion - a set of Welsh Mythological stories. I have that one as well, and that's a hell of a lot better.

Stevie may have taken Rhiannon from Triad, but the essence of the Rhiannon she sings about is from the Mabinogion.

I'd really like to read this book, but I'm only 14. Is it like, appropriate?

yes it is. I bought mine off of amazon.com for .60. I recommend you go there to try and find it, or a used bookstore in your area.

OK, thank you. Surprisingly enough, I found it at my local library. Apparently there are some Stevie/Mac fans there!
