Default Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) on Stevie Nicks

Last week's Monday Dave Stewart visited "The Bob & Tom Show", a US comedy radio program, on which he sang and played "Here Comes The Rain Again", "Don't Come Around Here No More" and "Lily Was Here" with an acoustic guitar to a backing track live in the studio plus improvised a "Bob & Tom Blues" towards the end of his more than an hour visit. In between he told some news and personal stories.

Besides how it is working with Ringo Starr, The the old and new Traveling Wilburys and Annie Lennox, living with George Harrison and how experiences with his French teacher formed his sexual life, he explained that unfortunately his French solo album with singer-songwriter Carla Bruni is on hold for longer after she's even more busy now being president Sarkozy's wife. Regarding "Off The Record" he revealed that four different artists are talked with for future specials. Then Dave gave a first reading from his Songbook book about how "Don't Come Around Here No More" came around:

When he first met Stevie Nicks (who just split up with Joe Walsh as he found out later) in 1984, she invited him to a private party consisting of not much more than "marching powder" and three more women. The song emerged when she asked Dave the next morning to better leave her house quickly after she just had sex with him (twice according to her) which was followed by some explosive situations involving Jimmy Iovine and Tom Petty. So much for a first appetizer, don't worry, not all stories are as delicate - more about the Songbook book here soon. To download the Bob & Tom radio show (mp3, 57 min with Dave), you need to become a "VIP member" (cheapest: $6.95 for 1 month membership) and sign up here. https://members.premiereinteractive....ikey=99987IGTZ

My friends may say that I have unusual tastes in men, but DAMN, Stevie reigns supreme for bass-ackward taste save a FEW choices.

So is Stewart trying to claim that Tom Petty would have gotten jealous as well as Jimmy?

Sickening for having sex with someone or because he does not meet your standards of beauty?

Some people are able to be intimate with another based on attributes not physical.

You're right. I should have considered that this cocaine-fueled romp ending with him getting kicked out of the house was some kind of transcendent love of the mind and soul.

Huh? I don't get it.... So is he saying Stevie believed she had sex with him two times or they really did have sex two times or at all for that matter? And what sort of explosive situations...about what??

I wonder if Stevie knows that song is about her as she sings backup on it. Considering how she complains about Lindsey saying she was "shacking up" in GYOW, and how she really wasn't shacking up with anyone, I would think she would be pretty offended by his account of this song.

Stevie doesn't sing back-up on that song. Tom Petty said he used Stevie's back-up singers on a day that Stevie was not in the studio.

I went to the website of this radio show, and they have shows available for download, but you have to buy a membership. I would like to hear if he gives details on the "explosive situations". Incidentally, this is the second time that some cad has gone on the radio to talk about Stevie's private matters. Apparently, Joe Walsh did the same thing on Howard Stern.

Well, I guess you could toss Don Henley into the mix as well in terms of "cads" who have aired out private matters. But Joe was an absolute raving drunk that Stern took advantage of at the time. Joe's cleaned up and been sober for quite a while. Stevie & Joe have managed to rebuild fences since that time. Stevie is "Sister Honey." 'Can we still be friends? The answer's always yes.' That's a Stevie Nicks trait that amazes me to this day.
