I do agree that I am sure Stevie has picked up several British terms and phrases over the years being that close to 3 other British band members.
In one article somewhere I remember Stevie giving her weight in "stones" instead of pounds. So, I can understand if some British phrases sneaks into her vernacular.

Stevie needs to write her memoirs somewhat soon to coincide with any tours she may do in the future while she still has the energy to promote such a project. Book tour and concerts would take quite a lot of time and energy. I bet it would be a page turner, hard to put down kind of book. I am sure I would read it all in one sitting. If she allows her humor to come out in her writing, I will be laughing so hard.

I just got the Q magazine and some of the picture captions were amusing:

Stevie with Clinton, Michael Jackson: "It was one of those experiences that you never forget. Bill was very sparkly. I think that Michael Jackson had lost his make-up and he wanted to borrow some, so we sent over my foundation and it was not the right color. He sent it back with a big thank-you note."

Sheryl and Kid Rock: "Of course I'm very good friends with Sheryl and I'm friends with Kid Rock too. He calls me his little rock n roll soul mom, because I'm much older, but we relate to each other."

Large stuffed rabbit: "I'm wearing my very favorite pink kimono ever and I hope I still have it somewhere. I don't remember that bunny but I remember the kimono. You might think, 'How could she forget that bunny?' But there's been so many."

Don Henley: "Don and I went out in 1976. Don was really my first boyfriend after Lindsey. We went out for about a year and ahalf. We've managed to stay really, really good, close friends, all this time. I could call him right now and I love singing with him."

Walter Reed soldiers: "Marisa, who is one of the women there, she lost both legs. They didn't think she'd pull through. I just have so much respect for her. She was a driver and she was just driving along in a Humvee and it blew up. I wrote a poem about her that I'm going to make into a song."

I don't even know where to begin.
I can see Michael opening up Stevie & Christine's gift of emergency foundation. "Ooh, no, no - this is way too dark. That British Mary Poppins lady is almost a burnt auburn compared to me. Someone's going have to see what's in Celine Dion's dressing room. Oh yeah, and bring me a little boy too."

I remember watching an interview with Stevie on UK television when she said to the interviewer (Annie Nightingale) that she had picked up some English terms and sometimes found herself saying things like "I give you a ring and pop over"

Default Christine or Stevie?

I love Stevie Nicks. She is beautiful and talented. But Christine McVie was my favorite FM member, and she was a long time member of the band. For me, Fleetwood Mac will never be the same without Christine. She was not as beautiful and her songs were simple, but she was the best! Come back Christine!!!

I like her, too, but I don't think her songs were that simple. Have you tried playing HOLD ME or DON'T STOP?

I can play, like, 3 songs on the piano, and "Don't Stop" is easy! Granted, I don't play all of those bluesy licks like The Dance version... "Say You Love Me," "Songbird," etc.- all simple as well. "Hold Me," however, is another matter altogether...

Actually, I'd like to hear your performance of DON'T STOP. It isn't easy, relative to many, many other FM songs. Keeping a shuffle beat strong & solid on a piano takes work & can cost in soreness. SAY YOU LOVE ME isn't terribly easy to play properly (Christine herself pares the business of the arrangement way down for the stage). HOLD ME isn't a breeze, either, but it isn't another matter altogether. There's no reason why it should be -- both take some work on the figures, & like a lot of Christine's songs, require some stamina to keep the figures rolling steadily.

Holding the pace/timing of Songbird is difficult. Though, I have not played a piano with any merit in decades. I think Stevie's stuff is hard when you try and keep her cadence. Then again, I suck at the piano

On the piano I can play Little Lies quite well. I used to be able to play Mystified perfectly but have forgotten and no longer have the sheet music.

Ah yes, there's no doubt that there's a lot of bouncy left-hand in Don't Stop... definitely not for the faint of heart, let alone the limp-wristed. Also a lot of syncopating 'n stuff. I suppose this sort of thing would drive a classically trained musician up a wall, but when you're playing by ear (like me), I don't hesitate to pound the tar out of the keys.

I tend to play the live arrangement moreso than the album arrangement ('cause it's easier). I have no idea what one would call this particular chord progression, but it's a very common one- similar to "Hey Jude," "Candle in the Wind," "Rocket Man," etc.

Stevie's FM stuff is pretty easy... but her solo stuff, especially the stuff played by Roy Bittan, can be pretty tough. As Stevie herself once said, sometimes it's a bitch!

Well Hello - arguably one of the best - though David may disagree
