no, there never has been one. that's what everyone's dying to get.

So it's up to US to be sure he WILL have the money for it!
well, here's the thing. in that poll that was done not long ago, almost everyone said they'd buy a coffee table book. which is much different than a poster. posters, in most cases, are really something that most adults aren't going to put on their walls. I do, you do, several do, but most don't. plus, no one's been really uber excited with the photo selections or the prices. I think that when you offer a single photo it's a lot easier for people to pass on it. everyone has said, do a cofee table book with a little blurb here and there and charge the $50 or so and most would snatch it.

from your post it sounds like the calendar and poster didn't sell well. is that true? maybe HWW should have just done the coffee table book to start with as people have suggested for years. I appreciate his effort though. I actually liked most of the pics used for the calendar...especially the cover. now, the poster is cute and sweet and all, but I'd much rather have had something more formal, in terms of pose, etc. that I could actually hang on my wall. in all honesty, the poster looks like something I took to Kinkos to have blown up. you see what I mean? it just doesn't come across as a Stevie Nicks/HWW original, special piece. fans are very picky and will turn on you in a second. that's just the way it is. HWW has a little window of opportunity here to actually get the coffee table book out. as for having the money to do it, I'm not sure I know what that means. are you saying he's forking over the money initially and then making his own money back? if that's the case, he should really be listening to what the fans say. be creative. offer options for fans to pick what picture they want as a poster or included in a calendar. as for the coffee table book, can't he find a publisher to work with him on this?

Hey Jill!

I'm with you.. I was also having a problem with the link, so I just e-mailed him with the above e-mail addy! On the Nicksfix, there is a link to click on to order his poster, and there's a tiny link below it to click on if there are problems.. Hopefully, your friends can just e-mail him, for now, to let him know they wanted a poster..

I agree with everything you said. I would also add that the price for the calendar was kind of outrageous. I know artists feel strongly about getting what they feel they deserve for their art, but I think it's not smart to push that too far when you are talking about a calendar. If they had been less money I think many more people would have bought them even sight unseen. Regarding the poster, it's like you said, the photo is cute, and if I saw it in a book I would say so, but I don't think the photo makes for a good poster. I would buy a coffee table book in a hot second. I absolutely love my fleetwood mac picture book. If Herbert put one out, I'm sure he would make quite a bit of money. Maybe he could even include a limited edition version that comes with a CD of an unreleased song like the FM book had!

Hey Jaz..

Actually- here's the thing.. as Herbie said to me, he was given some "bad" advice, originally to charge what he did for the Calendar! Yes, it IS beautiful, and there are WONDERFUL pictures in it, as you said, however.. we ALL know people who "can't" afford 50$ for it, and I understand that. Yes, he "DOES" have to "front" the money for ALL of his projects, and since he's just a working class person- like most of us are, he's definitely NOT in Stevie's "financial bracket", he HAS to sell what he can to make his money back! As he and I discussed this past weekend, he has just now "Broke even" on the posters.. and I totally agree with you, that yes, he SHOULD have done the Coffee table book first.. but he didn't! He also told me that Stevie is pushing him to do this coffee table book, which WOULD be awesome, but she mentioned that she didn't WANT any "blurbs" or any thing but pictures in it?.. I've been also collecting many "Stevie" things over the years as well, and too, am very picky as to what I buy, or what things look like! So now, he did mention that he is going to be working with a couple of publishers, but, where we stand is, where is he going to get HIS money to do this from? As he explained to me, he didn't feel that people had ANY clues as to how much goes into making such a book! The paper he uses is costly, along with his rare photos! He's afraid of again- charging 50$ for something like that and people going "No thanks" - like they did to his Calendar. Then, "HE'S" out the money! He's already told me that he's given MANY of his Calendar's away to "friends" of fans of Stevie's who said they couldn't afford the calendar. So, I, for one certainly wouldn't want anyone to be "out" money they don't have to begin with! Maybe if there is some sort of way we could do a poll to find out WHAT everyone would be willing to spend for something like this, that would be good! I, for one, would not at all mind spending 50$ for a awesome Coffee Table Book that he would do. Let me know what you think...

If he shops for a publisher he's not responsible for the cost of creating the book. He's got the photos, it's a great idea that would sell. Some publisher somewhere must be interested in the project instead of self-publishing.

Aww, Stevie! No blurbs? She had blurbs with the photos in the Enchanted cd. Okay, then just a bibliography of sorts in the back that tells us where and when.

Thx for the reply JF.

Unfortunately, Herbie has to come up with ANY and ALL monies 'Up front" for all of this. Who's gonna pay the publisher? LOL

That's only if he's self-publishing. Which means he pays for every copy produced. BUT if he seeks out a publisher, as in one that likes the idea and agrees to do the book for their own profit as well, he gets paid and nothing comes out of his pocket. He's providing the photos.

Well, all we can "hope" for - is something like this to happen, where he won't be out any monies "up front"..

like study says...a publishing deal works in similar ways as a record deal. if he gets a publisher, the publisher pays all the costs and pays Herbie and the they would probably split all profits.

finding a publisher that believes in this and will promote it so that it makes a profit is the key.

Well, all I can say is, I'm PRAYING for him to find a good publisher that would do this! I sure would love one of those books! LOL

Definitely. Self-publishing with the thicker, glossy paper would be very, very expensive. Unless he did something like a limitied edition and had pre-orders. But that would be troublesome as well.

Come on publishing world! I can't believe someone like HW would have a difficult time getting a publisher to do this book. He's done some amazing Stevie photos.

No kidding! He should be able, easily, you would think, to find a great publisher, who wouldn't think twice about doing this- as he DOES have some amazing photos of Stevie! We'll just have to see what happens..
