Default Aileen Wuornos

I've been intrigued by this case eversince I saw the movie Monster in 2005. In my opinion she never had a chance in life. I've been researching the case and I'd like to know your opinion.

i have followed her case for yrs & yrs~ i always felt bad that they gave her the death penalty~ yeah i know what she did was wrong, but i feel from the get go, this poor woman was treated like trash~ no 1 ever told her she was worth anything, & she was a throw away from the start as far as her family is concerned~ there was a lifetime movie about her also, that was very good~ the whole thing is just sad all the way around~

That's exactly the way I feel about it. I've never seen that movie but I did see Monster and I've watched several documentaries. Her own girlfriend turned on her in exchange for immunity. That struck me as odd because she knew everything. Shouldn't she have been treated as an aclompis(sp?)?

i think they should have charged her also~ i watched aileen's trial on court tv ( i wrk from home) & it was intriguing, yet sad~ i always felt that even tho she seemed "street smart", that she had a very low IQ & no one ever cared about that & the fact that she was abused by men almost constantly since she was pre-teen~ it seems no one took that into account~ & tho i think she killed some of the men just because she was already in it too deep, that the majority of them were abusing her in some way that just made her flip out~ & living the life of an insterstate prostitute had to be a rough ass life~ it seemed as she never had 1 ray of hope ever in her life~

I haven't seen Monster, but I've watched a couple of shows about her case and done some reading.

In the course of my learning, I've switched from sympathizing to empathizing with her. If you want to learn some stuff about the real way of the world, and forget all your notions about karma and whatever else, then this is definitely a story to follow. She never, ever had a shot at life... not one single opportunity to make something of herself. Literally. There are so many people in this world that are in a bad situation because they've missed an opportunity (or two). That's their own damn fault, and what they've made of themselves is what it is. I really do feel like the stars crapped on Aileen. She had a bad upbringing that never stopped. I believe she probably was acting out of defense - or at least truly was in her mind. It's not like Johns are nice guys anyway, and when it was discovered that her first victim was actually convicted for VIOLENT RAPE, that evidence should have been admitted, or the court should have granted her a re-trial after the fact.

As far as her girlfriend goes? She should have NEVER been offered total immunity. That bitch was at least somewhat involved, and it was obvious. The government just feels like it's okay because they "gots 'em one that can take all the blame, huckhuck". That's what pisses me off so much about the whole thing... there was no justice. After the first conviction, it was no contest for all the others, and when she didn't get a re-trial, she just gave up. How sad is it that she ended up just writing a letter saying practically, "i'm not crazy; i did it; just kill me already; i don't give a damn." And the state goes, "durrr, okay." Sad.

And after the fact, everyone leeched the story to try to make a buck off of her. She was the most honest one out of everybody.. cops, witness, judge, lawyers. Again, sad.

I'd probably invite her to my dinner party of "people from history". The interviews are intriguing. She was obviously in an abnormal mental state, and should have been institutionalized.. not jailed on death row.

The first guy (Richard Mallory) had served 10 years and still no re-trial. It all had to do with the re-elections of Jeb Bush and DA John Tanner. Three officers resigned after they were caught making book and movie deals. The girlfriend got a ****load of money and so did her adoptive mother Arlene Pralle, a born again Christian. She said she saw a picture of Aileen in the newspaper and "Jesus told me to write to her". In the meantime she got $ 25000 for doing an interview in Nick Broomfield's doc "The selling of a serial killer". She always asked money for interviews. Aileen never saw a dime of it.

She never had a chance in life. She was born on February 29th 1956 and her grandparents, who adopted her after her Mom left, only had a birthday party for her every 4 years. You can't do that to a child.

The reason why she pleaded no contest was because she had an attorney who didn't know anything about multiple murder cases. He was known as "Dr. Legal" and was hired by Pralle. Aileen had mentioned that she wanted it all over and done with and he took that seriously. Her former attorney, Tricia Jenkins, said that if he would've had the experience he had known that people on death row all say they want to to die. She said:"What you do is change the subject, you come back the next day and they want to live". He later said after the fact:"God forbid if I made that mistake".

The girlfriend, Tyria Moore, knew everything according to Aileen. She also said that she wanted to go out all the time and drank a lot of beer. And still after Moore's testimony she said:"I still love Tye and I miss her". Unbelieveable.

Was justice served in this case? I think not. Like you said, she should've been institutionalized, given meds etc. Tyria Moore should've been sent to prison for life.

The only one who cared about her was her brother Keith and he died of cancer in 1976.

She was most certainly abused, an 8 year old doesn't know anything about sex but still they made it look like she provoked everyone. An 8 year old provoked an old man to have sex????

As far as I know, she never knew where he went. I don't think she ever saw him.
