Default The compilation thread

several different threads around the ledge have sparked this idea for me and the recent Station Man thead went ahead and threw it into action

So here's the deal. Pick one song out of the rumours era and pick your favorite versions of that song. please make it at least 3 or 4 but not an excessive amout like 20 or 30. When picking dreams, or GYOW, it could get a bit much.

Please avoid studio versions, or anything commercially available. Please include live versions, demos, or anything else you have that you would love to share. You don't have to give a summary of the songs or anything, but if you can it would be nice.

Also, i am going to try to update this original post as people put their songs up. once that song has been picked, do NOT post it again. I don't want 15 compilations of you make loving fun or gypsy.

depending on how well this goes, we might move it to the pre-rumours forum, stevie forum and anywhere else people would like to do it.

one last thing-please keep in mind, this is 50% about the song, but 50% about the person posting. It's THEIR compilation. So please refrain from "that SUCKS!" or.."well MINE is so much better!" and if you have any questions about how to upload songs, zip files or posting a compilation in general, please pm me

alright. go.

the following songs have been taken:
angel
landslide
sisters of the moon
rhiannon

all of these are from the tusk tour

live in chicago

Love the difference in the way she sings "i stiiiiill look up!!" so matter-of-factly

live in cleveland

she kinda drags the song, but not in a bad way. the vocal is kinda connected all together if that makes sense.

love the "ooooh baby boy and many of those dreams"

live in melbourne, australia

I love angel because it's so raw and gritty. This is a much more mellow version of it and so different from the original so it stands out just a tad.

live in st. louis.
My all time favorite. great taping quality and great performance. This is very close to the tusk doc version of angel, but imo, slightly better

yokohama japan-
another good version, but highlight for me is when she take the "well track a ghost through the fog" higher than normal. she also rips the **** out of the end.

Great idea for a thread Michelle. I'm going to have to think of a song and do this after I get home. Of course, I'll have to pm you for directions on how to make a compilation.

Btw, Angel is probably my one of my favorite Mac songs. Love it and I can't wait to dl the compilation. Can't do anything at work or they freak out.

Landslide

Baton Rouge 8-30-78
"Hello Baton Rouge..." Need I say more?

Wallingford, CT 9-3-75 (or whenever the hell they played this Who's the New Girl show)
The old versions of Landslide are the best imo. Her voice was so pure and melodic. Just so pretty.

LA 8-17-91
She seemed to put a little more into the song during this show for whatever reason. There are also some changes in high notes that aren't usually sung. Also she adds the "hope you make it" lyric.

AHI 4-21-96
The most simple, getting to the point, version of Landslide I've ever heard. Sometimes you don't need any of that extra stuff to enjoy it.

Camden 6-15-07
Gotta have a present day Landslide, considering they're the best renditions she's done since '77.

but my windows media player won't play the .rar file. I'll try realplayer if I still have it on this comp.

A RAR file is a type of ZIP file. Goggle for a free tool called RARZilla - it will decompress it for you automatically. There are other programs too - WinRAR, etc, - but I think you have to pay to keep them after a few uses.
