I do not really see that argument as 100% accurate. Certainly of the two, he is more willing. However, he still fills his set with oldies but goodies. That he has less of them than La Nicks is his own deal. In other words, La Nicks could fill up an entire concert with staples and/or hits/singles. LB could not do that. So, he more room to add other stuff. I mean do we really need to hear GYOW or NGBA one more time a la Dreams or GDW?

Keep the new material IN the set, it will grow on people. If they'd just added two or three Rumours songs and dropped them one by one during that tour, it wouldn't have sold diddley-squat. They bitch about how an album tanks, but then they don't add enough new songs, or more accurately, KEEP enough new songs, in the set of the tour that they're supposed doing to PROMOTE the new album to actually make a difference in album sales. Nope, they keep shoving f***ing Rumours down our throats for the 1,000th time. I get it, there might be 100 first-time concert goers at each 20,000 seat venue, so they'll sell 40 more copies of Rumours at the expense of maybe selling 5,000 more copies of whatever their latest album is within a week after the show. That is just insanely idiotic marketing.

^^^^

You are preaching to the choir. I agree that they should have left DR and RTTG in the set. I am just speculating on why they dropped it. Hell, if it were up to me, they would drop every song they ever sang live and play only thing never played live~

Sara was done later on anyway and I doubt anyone thought she could still pull off SOTM, including Lindsey. Out of all their options, BC was the safest route and that's the only reason Stevie was willing to do it.

well i could also argue that she is wasting seven minutes that could be used for another lesser-known song by including stand back -- a solo song -- in the setlist. vrai?

If she sang BC, she could have sang SOTM - no two ways about that one.

I agree, I think she was referring to the SYW recording. I don't think that was because Lindsey's been extremely bossy (well, maybe, just a little...) , but because she deeply missed Christine capacity to mediate without creating a drama. I think he takes much better criticism from Christine than from Stevie, and probably she regrets not to have fought more for some issues at the time. It's also possible that the early meeting(s) they must have had in the last months, could have brought out the same issues, and so she's just a bit discouraged right now

By the way, she's keeping taking of a solo album...

I believe they asked her to include that - at least in the beginning. And, I think SB should not be in the FM set. But, that has nothing to do with why LB includes the warhorses in his set and people do not bitch near as much.

In the end, she is what she is, you can't please everyone, and that is that.

TBH, looking at the set list, I think DR was dropped because Stevie had 3 songs in a row and Lindsey would not be pleased about such a decision especially seeing as he didn't have 2 songs together in this set.

BTW, what is DLMDA?

You're really putting SOTM and BC in the same league? Really?

Stage performance wise (heck, anything wise) they are worlds apart.

I think you are mistaking the drugged out performance of SOTM on the Mirage video with an acceptable live performance of it. Have you ever heard the piano demo? The vocals are remarkably similar in range to BC because La Nicks writes all of her songs essentially using the same few chords. So, if she can sing one, she essentially can sing the other.

Well, I doubt she'd do a piano demo version of SOTM, if she were to do that song live in concert. It's not a ballad originally, it wouldn't be performed as a ballad either.

You are missing my point. Regardless of the music accompanying it, the vocal, esentially, is the same as the vocal on the paino demo, save for the drugged out part. Put it this way, the album cut of BC has one of her most beautiful and searing vocals ever. She was able to pull that off onstage with no trouble. If she could do that, what makes you think she could not do a solid version of SOTM, which is IMO no way nearly as vocally challenging as BC. I think you are thinking that anything less than the Mirage version of SOTM is crap. I disagree -- the woman can still rock as evidenced by EO17, which still shakes, but not nearly as much as the one on the BD concert

Because it requires an entire different approach on stage, one that is far more challenging than standing there holding your ribbons and belting out Beautiful Child. At least, in my opinion. Rhiannon is prefered the way it was much more over the way she does it now, but because it has been around forever and evolved over the years people have never questioned it and Stevie still feels comfortable doing it. A standstill performance of SOTM would come across rather blah. I doubt they were going for blah. With BC the vocals are the most important part of the song, with SOTM it's the entire package.

I think she could find a totally new intriguing way to perform SOTM, besides, it would have even a deeper meaning right now. The package is a convention.
