Question Sylvia Browne Psychic, Believe It Or Not?

Since I have the day off today becasue of election day, I thought I'd watch a little TV. On a preview for the Montel Williams show they were showing that Sylvia Browne, who is a returning guest of his will be on the show.

This got me thinking. Is this whole psychic thing real? I have a hard time really accepting it, but at the same time, find myself wanting to believe that it is true, so I am kind of in Limbo. What do you all think about it?

Much Love,
Ethan

I think Sylvia Brown is full of ****- pure and simple.

I do think there are individuals with *gifts* but I don't believe she is one of them. I used to really like her until I read some of her books. She's a loon.

Some people can sense things happening to friends/loved ones and other feed off the vibes they get from those who want answers via psychics (I've seen those types on TV frequently, they're the ones who want to be paid in advance of a reading - Remember the 'Psychic hotline'?) - just depends on which you believe in

I believe in psychics and such, but Ms. Browne is a crook. read her page on Wikipedia. it explains a lot. she's been in trouble with lots of scams and such.

she told the family of one of the two little boys that had been kidnapped years back that he was dead. then, like a year or so ago, guess what? he turned up...alive. can you imagine that poor family all that time?

I've never met one or know anybody with real psychic abilities (including my mother-in-law who claim she's psychic), but for some reason I believe psychic abilties do exist. As far as that beast Sylvia Brown being psychic, I say bull****.

I spent about two years studying and researching mediums and psychics. I even took some "mediumship development" classes. Based on my experiences, I think there is something to it all.

For example, one day during the classes, we decided to see if we could do a reading for another person. After a deep meditation, I saw the word "Johan" spelled out like on a scrabble board. I also saw the Tom Petty "Hard Promises" album cover. I called out this information, and turns out my class partner's two dead grandfathers were named Johannes and Thomas.

My problem with it all is the the info given in a reading is vague enough that you can never be sure it came from any paranormal source. I have had my own readings and been given some amazing information, but nothing that proved without shadow of doubt that it came from spirit, etc.

Anyway, Sylvia Browne might have some abilities, but overall she is a fraud. She charges $750 for a 1/2 hour reading, contradicts herself in all her books, and, as Jaz has pointed out, has given out completely false information about missing kids. I put John Edward (remember him?) in the same camp. I think he has abilities, but embellishes them with guesswork and other tricks in order to be famous.

Thumbs down

Well, I hate to actually admit that I saw her & John Edwards in person last year in NJ. At the time, I was a believer in her, but not too much John. (I drug my husband with me, a none believer.) He (John) was really funny when I saw them & some of the stuff he said, I didn't think he could possibly know. She was really grumpy & called too many people up for each person to ask question which was boring. She started just saying that the person they were asking about was reincarnated & she couldn't answer anything about them. I was really not too sure about her. It was just a vibe I had.

Now I personally believe in psychic stuff; I believe people can see certain things & predict certain events kind of like on that show, Medium.

Sylvia will not take this psychic test that Randi has insisted that she take to prove that she isn't a fraud, but she hasn't done it yet. And after that little ditty about the kid that was supposed to be dead so she said, but was actually alive & kidnapped for years, I pretty much think she's full of it.

I do believe some people have good "people" radar, and are sensitive and intuitive and "in tune" with others.
I don't believe in spirits or ghosts and such.
