Thanks for the heads-up.

I expect a stage rush as there appears to be no Pit. I will definitely stake out my spot early.

The strange thing was I just got my front row seat-section C on Friday night. I have a question about seating though.

The diagram shows section C starts at the end of stage right. Is that accurate? I have the inside aisle seat so you could say I'm at the end of section B. It looks good for at least getting to the stage but off-sides too much for the bulk of the evening. I do have another seat in Section B 4th row which would put me right in front of Stevie. I figure when I get there to move back and forth between the two only going to my front seat for Edge.

What's your thoughts having been to a concert there?

Have you been? Any pointers. I know I should probably get their early as I saw Don Henley earlier this year in Indio at the Fantasy Resort Casino and traffic was a nightmare. I didn't get to my seat until after the concert started. Not going to risk that again.

Hi Carol,

I've been to Soboba once to see John Fogerty, with front row seats. You should be able to get the stage fairly easily, depending upon what security is like. When I went for John, we headed up to the stage, like everyone else, but after a while, got kicked back to our seats. I believe this was because John Fogerty offered a special package deal on his website where fans could buy a ticket that included a meet and greet before the show, a bag full of goodies and they were allowed to stand at the stage, no matter where their seat was. All the rest of us who didn't have that package deal had to go sit down. Not that it was anything to cry about...I mean, we were in the front row!

I can't remember, but I think there was a barrier between the stage and where the people could go stand at the stage. I'm interested to see how it is set up for Stevie. Good luck!!

Thanks. I may call Soboba and ask them about seating but my experience from other concerts is most of the time they don't know much more than we do about seating. I guess it's worth a shot.

Will definitely get there early even before Isaak starts his set. Thanks for the info.

I figured security wouldn't be too intense with respect to cameras and that is why I opted not to take mine last night to the Greek. I will definitely hide my camera. The digitals are some much easier to hide than the old 35 mm. I used to have to get really creative to get it that one in. Now all I usually do is put my digital in my pocket and wear something over it.

I almost got body searched though at Staples for a recent Rod Stewart concert as I kept setting off the scanner despite the fact that I was "supposedly" emptying my pockets-which, of course, I wasn't. They finally let me through as the concert was about to start and people were piling up behind me.

The funny thing was, I was in the Pit and we were not allowed to use cameras and since there were only 40 of us in the Pit and we were surrounding by security four deep and were virtually trapped for the entire show inside the stage, I couldn't even use it once I did get it in. They actually gave us a list of dos and don'ts and if you took pictures, even with a cell, they threatened to boot us out of the concert. I wasn't going to take that chance as security was sitting right beside me all night. It was like I had my own body guard. Luckily no one acted like a pig and we didn't have to worry about getting crushed at the stage.

Live Review: Stevie Nicks in Los Angeles

May 21, 2007 03:57 PM
by Paul Gargano

If Stevie Nicks could choose the perfect setting to perform her mystical passions of life and love, it very well may be the Greek Theater. Nestled amidst the sprawling greenery of Griffith Park in the Hollywood Hills, the venue played host to a crowd of nearly 6,000 Saturday night (5/19), the first of two sold-out nights in Los Angeles and only the second stop on the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman's current "Crystal Visions" solo tour.
Despite the 10-piece band that joined her onstage for the duration of the 14-song, 100-minute set, it may have been the towering trees that line the amphitheater that contributed the most color to the evenings proceedings, the softly-lit leaves rustling in the light spring breeze and offering an ambient backdrop to Nicks' retrospective night of classic rock and iconic pop.

"The real 'Crystal Vision' in my life is all of you, and I thank you for staying with me all these years. Now let's rock…" she casually said following the pulse of opener "Stand Back," offering her first of many chatty interludes. "Dreams" appropriately followed, one of the night's more buoyant pop excursions and also the track that features the title line of her newly released hits collection.

While more than half of the night's set could be found on the new "Crystal Visions" best-of set, the night wasn't all obvious hits, with fan favorite "Leather and Lace" absent and lesser-known piano ballad "Beauty and the Beast" serving as a grand and dramatic finale. With her long, blonde hair pulled up for the first time all night and classic black-and-white footage from Jean Cocteau's 1946 French film of the same name, "Le Belle Et La Bete," Nicks' closed the night with a song that explored the gray area within life's black and white extremes--a theme she had frequented throughout the performance.

Introducing "Sorcerer," which she recalled writing nearly 25 years ago, Nicks commented that the song captured both the "scary and fantastic" aspects of living in Los Angeles in the early '70s. Later in the set, she reminisced that "Fall From Grace" was both "the most loving and meanest song I've ever written."

The glue that held the set together was Nicks' vocals, her textured rasp adding imperfect yet inescapably comforting warmth, whether during the soft tenderness of her signature "Rhiannon," the middle-of-the-road country tone of "Enchanted," or the more animated hard-rock timbre of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll."

While she didn't dust off the Tom Petty-penned "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" from her solo debut ["Bella Donna," 1981], Nicks did dedicate a cover of his "I Need To Know" to her friend and recent tour mate, longtime guitarist Waddy Wachtel, who took advantage of some rare time in the spotlight.

The band--Wachtel was joined by guitarist Carlos Rios, bassist Al Ortiz, drummer Jimmy Paxon; piano player Cornell Thigpen and organist Ricky Peterson; Fleetwood Mac percussionist Lenny Castro; and backing vocalists Lori Nicks, Jana Anderson and Sharon Salani--was dutiful with the arrangements, seldom stepping outside Nicks' shadow.

Thigpen accompanied Nicks on the into to "Rhiannon," the vocalists played their part during the acoustic "Landslide," and Paxon and Castro soloed from "Still of the Night" into the intro to "Edge of Seventeen," which featured Wachtel riding his dominant riff throughout the song. As if by plan, though, they all blended rather reverently into the background, doing just enough to create a musical blanket for Nicks to wrap her vocals around.

That provided everything the enthralled crowd could have asked for, and sometimes more, as their "Gold Dust Woman" wove her musical incantations into the night. It was a night atypical of Hollywood's storied pomp and circumstance, and more fitting of Nicks' legacy as rock's reigning Queen. She delivered like royalty.

Setlist:
"Stand Back"
"Dreams"
"If Anyone Falls in Love"
"Rhiannon"
"Enchanted"
"Sorcerer"
"Gold Dust Woman"
"I Need To Know"
"Landslide"
"Fall From Grace"
"Still of the Night"
"Edge of Seventeen"
(encore)
"Rock and Roll"
"Beauty and the Beast"

"still of the night" The reporter kind of had credibility until I came across that, but will give the reporter the benefit of the doubt of still being under Stevie's spell from the concert.
umm, let's try "How Still My Love"

Probably got a hold of the actual set list from the stage, Stevie has always referred to the song as "Still Of The Night".

I think Stevie forgot that the most 'loving, yet meanest song' she ever wrote was Planets of the Universe. That is what she said at one of my TISL shows. Fall From Grace isn't really mean.
