I agree with your post. I am completely uninterested in seeing her live anymore.

I'm sick of the fact that all she talks about are the same things she's talked about for years and years now -- Fleewood Mac's long-past dramas, her cocaine and kolonopin days etc...ad nausuem. She panders to it, the media panders to it, and alot of fans pander to it. Move on!

Her shows haven't really changed that much since she went solo. The main content is "all the same.....

I think maybe part of it might have to do with pressure from the Record Company and her Publicist, and other people around her. Unfortunately, the casual fans are where the REAL money is. Her "established fan base" is guaranteed to buy her stuff (have your copy of CV nearby? ) But the Record Company and other people want to go after the less-involved fans, for example the "tween" market.
I know that people often argue that "Stevie can do whatever she wants." Well, I've heard often that the reality, in general, is a lot different than people would expect. I don't mean with Stevie specifically; I just mean that I've heard that almost ALL big stars are subjected to these kinds of pressures and expectations.
Part of it might just be "sticking with what works," too - Reprise Records and everyone else involved that has a financial stake in this, has seen it work in this way - so "don't rock the boat." Unfortunately The Money Issue once again gets in the way of creativity.

Maybe that's something Stevie should write about.

^^ if you think stevie or her management is concerned with the "tween" market, you're spacier than stevie is.

She alluded to it in the Destiny Rules documentary. It could also be the reasoning behind that horrible iTunes playlist.

I think the Record Company VERY much is, because from the point of view of these business people, it's the ONLY way to keep this going over the long-term. They don't think in terms of "Oh WOW Rumors sold SO many copies!" They're trying to figure out a way to keep Reprise owned by Warner Brothers so that it won't be bought up by the Chinese or some German company, the way Chrysler Corporation has been. Or at least to delay that until they retire and get the heck out of the game. Nothing else is entering into their thinking, not even whether or not the music is any good.

I did indeed do that after reading the Patty Griffin thread on the chit chat forum..Children Running Through is a stunning piece of work and I was thrilled to hear it and thought of the similarity to some of Stevie's work which somehow only served to remind me of how she has seemingly abandoned her 'first love" songwriting.

then stevie's doing a piss poor job of marketing to that demographic. why wasn't she on the kids' choice awards? or doing voice-overs on kids' shows? or showing up on sesame street? instead, she's doing spots on geriatric shows like cbs sunday morning.

Im not going to get into this because I got kind of fumed reading this. But would it KILL her to do 3 of her solo songs that she hasn't done in a while on stage? With the talented band she has that would take 4 or 5 rehearsals, tops. It hurts me that she has so many awesome solo songs yet she chooses SILVER SPRINGS as the surprise this tour.

has this been confirmed? i thought it was just a rumor, but people are acting as if it's a done deal.

The CV tour has not even started yet, so lets give her a chance to actually change the setlist before we get all bitchy about it. A different tour, a different set-list, surely....

Actually, I have to admit including that in my post was not directed at you personally, and in fact, I apologize to anyone I may have offended.
I've definitely been frustrated with the tone of alot of the posts regarding Stevie. Johnny Stew mentioned that alot of other people posting on Christine's and Lindsey's forums are not so negative. I am not suggesting anyone censor their opinion, but it does get tiresome to read things that seem so negative all the time.
I have also been a long time fan, since 1975 when the White Album was released.I also wish Stevie would produce more music and mix it up onstage, but my expectations are what they are. I dont go following her around the country. She is who she is, and I still get alot of enjoyment out of her music.
