Photos from the North

Stew_Matthews · #1 03-20-2007, 01:20 PM

I wasn’t sure where to put these. I’m pretty keen on photography and post stuff on a couple of sites. I’m working/living about 250 miles from the North Pole and thought you might be interested to see what I get to see. As the sky is very clear now, I see what is known as the ‘Northern Lights’ once it gets dark. It’s hard to capture well in a photo but the sky at this time of the year has hundreds of green lights moving ‘round. In Autumn you get more of a copper colour. So I posted two shots at night and then a view during the day. The flat part is the sea which is frozen and then you can see the glacier ahead.

Anyway, hopefully some of you will enjoy these……….

God that's beautiful. What do you do up there?

DrummerDeanna · #5 03-20-2007, 01:43 PM

Oh man. One of my dreams is to see the Northern LIghts someday. So beautiful.

Great pics!

It's almost beyond my comprehension that you actually see that. Like, up in the sky, not in a movie or something.

Gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.

and all I have to say, is if I woke up one day and the sky looked like that-first i would **** my pants. The second thing I would do is start praying

on one of those very rare occasion when you could faintly see 'em here in Oklahoma (Happens about once every 5-7 years if the weather is right in the Northern sections of this state.)

Absolutely gorgeous!

It humbles you as a human being to know there are things in nature as beautiful as that. It just puts one in a state of awe. We seem so small compared to the wonders of the universe. The Seven Wonders.

......isn't there enough debauchery on this forum without you lowering the tone of MY thread....

! Two photo's of me is enough, I don't want to get the reputation as a serial photo poster like 'M'....or worse still the reputation as a serial thread starter

!

To everyone else, thanks very much for your kind comments.

Stew

Those are gorgeous. I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights. That third picture your posted looks like Denver after the blizzard.
