I, personally, find a multitude of recent threads to be immature.

Not really, though I suppose I can see how you saw it that way. And for that, I apologize.

Maybe we are assuming too much. I really don't know what's going on here. I'm not part of any crowd on here so I'm not privy to any inside info.

My comment was not directed at you or most people whose screen names are displayed in green. We don't make an issue of it, but if you're going to have 5000 posts, you could at least throw The Ledge a couple of bucks.

Hello! With the least amount of sarcasm I can muster, what exactly do you think we're supposed to be doing here?

"Every chance we get," huh? I'm sorry you feel that way. Really. Fact of the matter is that the mods have intervened very little with regard to recent events. Maybe these threads have been "lighthearted," but obviously there's some folks, and not just mods, who haven't seen things that way. However, no one has been called to task on them. I entered the conversation because I'd rather we all get our cards out on the table than "assume" anything.

It's a very tough line to walk sometimes. Posts get reported to you, and not always by the "victim." We try to weigh everyone's rights and keep the board a welcoming, friendly place, not like an insular club. I suppose some times we do better than others.

That's part of the problem. It's getting a little too cliquey 'round here.

I can see both sides of the....whatever this is - debate? Argument? Coin? Whatever. But the bottom line is that this place has been slow lately, and some members are trying to get some activity going again.

If you don't like the thread topic or think it's stupid, then ignore it & let it sink to the bottom (although it could very well be "revived" again a week later, so that may not work.) You want to get serious & have real discussions? Then start a thread! What's stopping you? It's all the rage, all the kids are doing it.

That was four days ago And that's what I meant - it was funny at first - which was when Carrie started it. There were a couple of others started that same day that were funny...

Then it got out of hand, IMO.

I didn't perceive Carrie's threads as making fun of any one person - but she's already explained - and I was also going along in that vein - having a good time.

Either way - some are having fun, some find it immature, some annoying...it's not the first time and won't be the last that Ledgies don't agree with one another.

I think the moderators are doing a fairly good job of balancing things around here- despite the perception that some squeaky wheels are getting the grease.

The thing I find interesting is that in the five years I've participated in this forum, I've never felt the urge to "report a post" to a moderator. Even some of things that 1/2 Insane said. I mean, the whole idea of "reporting" a post seems so grade school to me- other than something like a porn link or something like that. If I feel offense or concern about a post, I either address the person who posted it or ignore them.

I don't like cliqueyness, but it doesn't surprise me one bit considering the way things have been (IMO) going downhill around here lately.

This was always my opinion with regard to Ethan when some folks seemed to be trying to bully him into not posting/creating threads. For Chrissakes, it's not like anyone ever said that everyone has to respond to his threads and hang on his every word! Hell, I almost never respond to his threads. It doesn't mean it's OK to make sport of him. A little perspective, folks.

It wasn't any one person's threads that raised my eyebrow (why oh why did Marty get rid of that smiley!) nor was it just the "official" threads. But all at once there seemed to be an awful lot of (IMHO) pointless, inane, stupid threads quickly on the heels of the latest Ethan brouhaha. It certainly seemed suspect to me, but if everyone is going to go all on me, then...whatever. It's not like it made me mad. I thought it was funny, a little sad, but ultimately it was just silliness.

Thanks. I appreciate that.

Interestingly, I think the anti-Ethan vibe has been curbed not so much by the actions of the moderators, but because of regular board members who have stood up and said something when he/she thought Ethan was being treated unfairly.

Ultimately, I think Kate said it best: "It's just the Internet, people."

I'll just say now that uh.. personally.. I don't want to be in the club.

Clique away.. everybody else in the world does it, anyway. Why would online be any different? The only problem is when only certain people have the balls to start threads.

Too bad there isn't a topic-starting-limit per week.

We're not allowed to speak freely(at least in the forums), so that's as "in detail" as I can be. Safely, at least.

That was very funny and worth reading through this painful thread.

I have no problem with the official threads or the unofficial threads.
