I had a bass & electric guitar (Both Dean instruments), but sold 'em to pay some medical bills.

Hopefully someday when I feel better I will purchase another bass (5 string left handed model - Weird, I'm naturally right handed but I play guitar/bass left handed.)

I think we all know by now where I am on the scale.

If not?

Let's just say Lindsey's still trying to play his way out of that paper bag...I'm 3 miles down the block.

My Gear:

Guitars:
Turner Model 1-C Jr. (sunburst)
'57 Reissue Fender Strat (2-tone sunburst)
Fender CD-100 acoustic (with a clip-in-the-soundhole Bill Lawrence pickup)
Takamine EF444STBS acoustic (w/CT4 electronics)

Amps:
Fender BluesDeVille 410 (tweed)...original year production, bought new
Fender SFX Satellite...original year production, bought new
Polytone amp...was given to me. Have no clue as to the model or year made. I use it to amplify the acoustic guitars.
Fender 75 amp head...given to me by same person as Polytone. I haven't used it since I don't have a speaker cabinet for it. Has a couple of electronic "issues" (will change channels whenever it feels like it)...but, when it works right, it has a killer "Big Fender" tone...like a Dual Showman on steroids.

I have too many friends that own guitars... some play in bands, some don't anymore...

The purple Les Paul, the 12 string Ovation, and BC Rich are some of my favorites... Oh, and the Dimebag Darrell guitar. My friend paid 5k for it, so it's very special to him.

I used to own an aucoustic guitar, learned a few chords and parts of songs (never a whole song). Sold the guitar.

Then last week I bought an electric guitar and little amp and now I've got one again. I'm re-learning chords and such...trying to take it slow and not get frustrated.

Until I bought a house that I can't afford, I used to spend my money on guitars.
I've got:
4 Fender Strats - 2 of which I have EMG active pickups installed, and Fishman acoustic piezo bridges installed(for an acoustic sound). These 2 are my main guitars.
3 Fender Teles - One a "B" bender. One a Buck Owens tele, that Buck had "signature engraved" personally to me.
1 Gretsch electric.
1 Fender Bullet.
2 Takamine acoustics.
1 Ovation acoustic.
1 1933 National resonator.
1 1947 Gibson ES-135 electric hollowbody.
1 Flatiron "A" style mandolin, with pickup.
1 Epiphone "F" style mandolin, with pickup.
1 Fender electric violin.
1 cheap Santa Rosa banjo.
1 National lap steel.
1 Leilani lap steel.
2 Peavey basses, one 4 string, and one 5 string.
Fender Jazz Pro fretless bass.
Kramer piece of **** bass.

Amps are two Marshall heads(JCM 900, and a JCM(?)45),
a Fender Bandmaster head,
two 4x12 speaker cabinets,
a Fender Cyber Deluxe,
a Musicman RD112,
and a couple of cheap Peavey amps that I carry to practice, cuz they're lightweight!

I haven't a clue. It was abandoned, when I "acquired" it. It was rough as could be. I took it all apart, sanded the hell out of it, and had a friend of mine who paints cars, paint it surf green for me(I also had one of my Strats painted the same color, at the same time).

Oh. Ok. So it's the strat-style bullet? In 81 & 82, the Bullets were more telecaster style with a twist of mustang. Mustang pickups and random parts. It's a neat guitar. Metal pickguard bends up to act as the bridge.. the saddles just run through it.. there's no bridge piece or tailpiece at all.

ELECTRICS (All Fenders...I've had other brands, but only luck with Fender.)
'95 American P-Bass (Black)
'94 American Strat (3-tone sunburst, maple neck)
'91 American Strat (3-tone sunburst, rosewood neck)
'91 Mexican Tele (Arctic White) It has all new electronics and hardware, including Duncan Seth Lover neck, Duncan Broadcaster bridge, and a through-body bridge (not stock on a '91) fitted with 6 brass saddles from G&L. Tuned to 5-string open-G. (How else would one play a Tele with that particular mod????)*

ACOUSTICS
'03 Seagull S6E
'92 Alvarez classical

AMPS
'70s Ampeg B15 (fliptop). With the P-Bass, I have THE bass sound!
'91 Yamaha T50D. Designed by Mike Soldano.
'94 Fender Blues Deville. Best sounding amp I've ever owned.
'78 Fender Super Reverb that I had converted to blackface specs and updated with new speakers (Jensen P10R), all new cosmetics (all Fender), and NOS tubes. All that's original are some caps, the pan, and the cabinet wood. It's essentially a brand new, PTP Fender Super Reverb. The Supers with Master Volumes were never worth anything anyway.*

*=I've acutally purchased the Tele and the Super twice. I only parted ways with these way back when for financial reasons. I traded the Tele towards a bass amp (and was sick about it two days later), but bought it dirt cheap at a sale at the same store about two years later. I traded a friend for the Super because I couldn't afford new tubes. He sold it back to me nine years later because he couldn't afford a new furnace.

I've had this deal with several friends. IF you ever sell it, you MUST give me first crack at it!
I've got a set of 1966 Ludwig blue sparkle drums, with original Zildian cymbals; my 5 string bass; and one of my Strats with the EMGs and Fishmans, that I have under those conditions.

My arctic white Tele is my baby. I love it to pieces. Of course, I can't play very well. I just started a few months ago, and I've mastered Smoke On The Water, the 4-note blues riff, and a few things with powerchords. My hands are pretty small, so it's been difficult mastering chords, and the fact that I started out on bass doesn't help matters much.

I still have my bass, though I don't play it very much. It's an Ibanez. I'm thinking of selling it, but I figure, if I re-learn the basics, it may come in handy, especially since I'm working on forming another band apart from the one I'm already in, and we can't seem to find a bassist who fits our style. Eh.

Homer, when you mentioned Gretsch, it got me thinking about this gorgeous silver glitter electric I saw at Pianos 'N' Stuff, which is basically the mecca of music shops out here. I asked to see it, and the store associates were like, do you need a pick, or a cord to plug it in, and my response? "No, I just want to hold it for a minute." I'm a geek.

Kate, I started out with an Ibanez bass as well, then switched to electric. There'd always been an acoustic around, but I was diggin' on electric before I really tried the acoustic out seriously.

You made a good choice with the Tele for having small hands. I have the same problem. My bullet, which I was mentioning to Homer before is made of pretty much Tele and Mustang parts, has a slim Tele neck. It really is the most comfortable I've found for small hands yet.

Years later, I still don't like playing by chords. I know it's proper, but that's just not how my brain works... i play by feel. And lemme tell you, I've got some creative fretting fingerings. The way I have to cross my fingers (middle over ring or middle over index) for some barre chords probably looks ridiculous, but it's the only way I can get it done.

That was my initial reason for choosing a Tele. For a breif period, I was playing an Epiphone, but it was not a good fit for me, and the neck was a bit too thick. So I decided to go ahead and just get a Tele, and it really is a "comfortable" guitar. That, and I love, love, love its sound.

I'm the same way. I have a book on chords, and all kinds of charts, but I just can't do them the correct way. My former guitar teacher constantly got on my ass for using the incorrect fretting, but whatever, it gets the job done. Still, everyone seems to be amused by the fact that I can't play open chords, haha.

i love teles. i love teles. i love teles. i think my next guitar will be a tele because my hands are so. small. i still can barely play barre chords on my current guitar (a POS acoustic yamaha) b/c the neck is so freakin' huge.
