Default Fleetwood Mac Tour Announcement!!

From Billborad.com 9/04/2002

Fleetwood Mac Plans Tour Behind New Album

Fleetwood Mac will embark on a 40- to 60-date North American tour of arenas and amphitheaters in April 2003, Billboard.com has learned. The group's most popular lineup of Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham, John McVie, and Christine McVie last toured in 1997 with an arena run that grossed $36.2 million in 44 shows; the upcoming tour will include everyone but Christine McVie. The same lineup's first new studio album since 1987's "Tango in the Night" will arrive next spring via Reprise.

A greatest hits package, "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac," is due Oct. 15 on Reprise. The 36-track, double disc album spans 1975-1997, omitting material recorded by the more blues-oriented edition of the group prior to Buckingham and Nicks' arrival. Nine top-10 hits are included, including "Dreams" (No. 1), "Don't Stop" (No. 3), "Little Lies," and "Hold Me" (both of which reached No. 4).

Three tracks are culled from the group's 1997 reunion album "The Dance": "Go Insane," "I'm So Afraid," and "Big Love" (the original version of which hit No. 5 in 1987). Other tracks include "As Long As You Follow" and "No Questions Asked" from the band's 1988 "Greatest Hits" album.

"The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" will also feature footage of the band recording the new album, as well as rare live performances, interviews, and music videos.

In related news, Buckingham sings on the cut "The Man Who Loved Women" on Tom Petty's new album, "The Last DJ," due Oct. 8 from Warner Bros.

Here is "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" tracklist:

Disc one:
"Go Your Own Way"
"Dreams"
"You Make Loving Fun"
"Rhiannon"
"Monday Morning"
"Silver Springs"
"Say You Love Me"
"Second Hand News"
"Over My Head"
"Sara"
"Never Going Back Again"
"Love in Store"
"Landslide"
"Songbird"
"What Makes You Think You're the One"
"Storms"
"Go Insane" (live, 1995)
"Tusk"

Disc two:
"Don't Stop"
"The Chain"
"Little Lies"
"Gypsy"
"Think About Me"
"Gold Dust Woman"
"World Turning"
"Hold Me"
"Seven Wonders"
"Everywhere"
"Family Man"
"Sisters of the Moon"
"As Long As You Follow"
"No Questions Asked"
"Skies the Limit"
"Paper Doll"
"I'm So Afraid" (live, 1995)
"Big Love" (live, 1995)

This part of the article confuses me...where is this footage going to be on an AUDIO CD or DVD? I mean, the rare live performances and interviews would work on an audio thing, but what about the music videos? Granted, I've never had an audio DVD, or even a DVD for that matter, so I don't know if they mix video into audio DVD's. So, if someone could explain, I'd appreciate it.

Just on a side note, I'm at school, I commute one hour so there's no point in going home, and I have a break from 1-5:45, so yeah, right now I'm just about to pull my hair out in utter boredom. Save me, I'm running for cover...

(PLEASE SEE THE RUMOURS FORUM FOR MY RESPONSE TO THIS!!!!!!!)

Sorcerer386, it is actually possible for them to get all of this stuff on a cd......it looks like it will be, as some people have been mentioning, an "enhanced cd".......that's what that is--a cd that contains the audio items as well as visual items that can be accessed when you play the disc on, say, a computer (the visual items are usually videos for some of the songs, or lyrics--one disc that comes to mind is Sheryl Crow's The Globe Sessions......I put this disc on my computer and I get a menu where I can access video clips, lyrics to the songs, photos, etc.). So all these items, the music videos (obviously), the footage of making the new album, the interviews, the live performances all very well can be visual items and be on one or both of these cds!

Oh here I go again.....so excited......I'm on the verge of re-wetting myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up From what I hear...

The cd will be a "E-CD" which is the Enhanced version which plays on Mac & PC Cd-Roms which have Quicktime 3...Seems alot of the "E-CD" format is starting to show up on the market...The "Very Best Of" will definately be one to buy...Brian J.

PS-I forgot to add that I also have heard that this tour will go to Europe...Pray Pip, Pray...lol

Thumbs up Enhanced CD...

The reason for enchanced CD's IMO is so consumers won't download songs from the net...it gives consumers another reason to buy the CD.

I didn't mean it in that way, actually... it's more like, ohmigod, won't they collapse or something after touring that much?! That is a lot of dates.

Laura.
