Whilst not quite the duet some may have dreamt or dreaded, Björk and Prince are both set to appear on the upcoming Joni Mitchell tribute album.

The Icelandic songstress reinterprets 'Boho Dance', whilst the previously unnameable purple sex midget tackles 'A Case Of U' on the album, appropriately titled 'A Tribute To Joni Mitchell'.

Sufjan Stevens, Emmylou Harris, Annie Lennox and Elvis Costello are among other artists to appear on the tribute, which is slated for release in the northern spring.

'A Tribute To Joni Mitchell' – Track List:

01 Sufjan Stevens – 'Free Man in Paris'
02 Björk – 'Boho Dance'
03 Caetano Veloso – 'Dreamland'
04 Brad Mehldau – 'Don't Interrupt the Sorrow'
05 Cassandra Wilson – 'For the Roses'
06 Prince – 'A Case of U'
07 Sarah McLachlan – 'Blue'
08 Annie Lennox – 'Ladies of the Canyon'
09 Emmylou Harris – 'Magdalena Laundries'
10 Elvis Costello – 'Edith and the Kingpin'
11 k.d. lang – 'Help Me'
12 James Taylor – 'River'

yay, emmylou! yay, annie! yay, elvis! yay, kd lang!

it'll be interesting to see how bjork does "a case of you," which is my favorite joni song. wish they could've used kd lang's version from hymns of the 49th parallel, because it's amazing. i'm not a huge joni fan, but i'm looking forward to this!

I know! I wanna hear Emmylou do Magdalene Laundries. Her voice suits that song, methinks. I'm curious to hear Bjork, too... I like her. We already know kd's cover is gonna be hott, so that goes without sayin'.

really?

what'd they sing?

This is going to be awesome!!
I, personally, would love liner notes from each artist explaining why they chose the particular song and what it meant to them.

I'll get this the day it's released.

Yeah, as soon as she hit that note, I was like, *piddles*

[WelshWitchPMD]

Was this the album that Lindsey's version of 'Big Yellow Taxi" was supposed to be on?

I saw the track list awhile back. While they're not exactly the songs I'd pick, I'm glad they didn't go totally predictable with the song selection (although James Taylor doing River= yawn). It could've been awful, given that most people act like she stopped recording in 1972.
