Share MP3s of Your Favorite Christmas Songs

Johnny Stew · #1 12-03-2006, 02:14 AM

We generally prefer that Ledgies refrain from posting commercially available tracks, but I thought it would be fun if we all shared some of our favorite Christmas songs.

So let us know some of your favorites and be sure to post an mp3 so we can all hear it.

I heard this version of "Little Drummer Boy" (my all-time favorite Christmas song) in a commercial quite a number of years ago, and totally fell in love with it. I posted about it on the Ledge and asked if anyone might know who performed it.
Barbara, one of the Ledge's original moderators, had also heard it and fell in love with it, and she hooked me up with this mp3.

So I always think of my friend Barbara whenever I listen to this song....

Low - "Little Drummer Boy"

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
"Christmas All Over Again"

Billy Burnette (and Mick Fleetwood)
"It Came Upon A Midnight Clear"

The Malibooz
"Carol Of The Swells" (Instrumental surf version of "Carol Of The Bells")

Ooh, Vicky, I LOVE the Malibooz' take on "Carol of the Bells"!!!

The Martina McBride track is terrific... thank you, Deanna.

Keep 'em coming!

Here's Chris Isaak, Stevie, Brian McKnight and Michael Bublé performing "Rudolph" on Chris Isaak's Christmas Soundstage special....

Believe it or not, I'd actually heard that one before. I hope everyone downloads it... I think he (along with Mick) did a really great job of it.
Billy's voice has such a smooth, soulful quality, he could easily do an entire album of Christmas music.

Now here's a little something from Christine....

Christine McVie - "Coventry Carol"

Really? I'd never even heard of it 'til I found it in a search on Amazon. And I certainly hope everyone does DL the song. (Y'all don't even wanna know how much I paid for that damn CD! Make it worth my money, people.) Besides, it's really beautiful, and I think everyone will like it.

I think it's safe to say that Billy's my new favorite Mac member.

Never been a big fan of John Denver's music, but his Christmas album with the Muppets will always have a special place in my heart.

One of the saddest and most beautiful Christmas songs ever....

Willie Nelson - "Pretty Paper"

I hadn't heard Nelson's version, but I have a Roy Orbison recording of it somewhere that is just gorgeous!

Roy Orbison's version is gorgeous and it can be difficult to choose between the two... but, for me, Willie's wins by a nose, because his voice is just so heartbreaking there.

And now for something completely different (with a "hello" to Brian J.)....

Queen - "Thank God It's Christmas"
