If you're interested in how this photographer got such great photos and was allowed to stay past the first 3 songs, perhaps he'll tell you if you contact him. I have seen a few professional photographers with passes shooting throughout the show during this tour. They seem to have regular seats and some don't leave after the 3rd song. Did you post them on Mick's site too? |

Actually, the guy posted them on a photo board and said he took them from his seats and didn't have a photo pass. The standard is three songs for photo passes... if someone was shooting from their seats then they are working for the label, Lindsey's website, or they snuck them in. A standard media pass will get you only three songs with someone escorting you in and out of the venue.
I'm a photographer and work for several publications... that's how I know about the rules. As to when they were posted... I don't know. I would have thought someone from here would have linked to them if they were already posted. No, I did not post a link at Mick's. Best |

I saw and spoke to 2 professional photographers at different shows on the tour and they had regular seats. I didn't say or mean to imply, this one or any of them, were shooting from their seats. I said they were shooting throughout the show. They had their passes on and I'll add, they took the photos I saw while they were standing by the side of the stage. No one was stopping them or escorting them out of the venue, and they returned to their seats on and off throughout the show. If they had regular seats then maybe that's why they weren't held to the 3 song rule From the conversations I had with them, they worked for the media and weren't working for WB or the official site and were officially working that night taking photos, they didn't sneak their gear in and had official passes. That's very interesting... the ones I saw were escorted and only got three. Maybe they let them go to their seat for the review and didn't make them put away their gear. It's strange, but who knows? If they were allowed to shoot from their seats Kudo's to Lindsey's people for letting them do so. I think it's anal as hell to shoot for only three songs. Most of the really good shot are later in the show. If it was my artist I'd let them shoot whatever they wanted , and ask for a copy of anything they shot. Then if there was something really outstanding they could pay to use it for promo or whatever. I know that's what Tom Petty does and they do have the same management. I would also like to see them relax on the fans... those that pay good money to see a show, should damn well be able to take a few images to remember it by. The whole thing can be so controlling it drives me "Insane" ![]() |

Okay, so they didn't shoot from their seats... that makes more sense. They do give out media passes to review the show too, but they usually make you take your gear from the venue, or security watches it. Management: Wow! I hadn't heard that. Is Tony not working for Lindsey or Tom now? One of the parts that bugs me the most is that they say no photos, and then they use the photos a fan managed to sneak, at the risk of being expelled. What's up with that? I mean if you are going to use the stuff on your website... the least you could do is allow people to take the photos without the risk of being tossed from the venue. I can understand taping because people could sell them and actually make money at it, but photos don't go for anything. I just think it's really unfare to the fans... it's not like they allow pro gear anyway, so the photos they get will be okay, but not fantasic. Why not leave the fans with a great momento? The guy that took the photos in question is the exception... he did have pro gear and did not have a pass per his post on a photography board. I'm sorry to hear that they got strict after the first few shows. The first one (Pabst) I went to was open and just said no flash. I didn't bring a camera. The second (Chicago) was very strict and said they would toss you. That's another thing that bothers me is the inconsistancy of it all.Best Last edited by Pix; 10-30-2006 at 01:14 PM.. |

Just trying to offer a view of this from the otherside. There is also the possiblity that people are so busy snapping off that it detracts from the show....who knows? Perhaps it is blinding? Perhaps it is annoying to look out amongst the fans eyes full of stagelight and all one sees are lenses and cellphones? ![]() |

You shouldn't use a flash out of respect, but noflash should be fine without pro gear. You can never stop people from taking pictures anyway... you have to weigh it out... what is worse? Having someone take a few pictures without flash or having a nazi securty guy push his way through and drag someone out of the venue? I've never known Lindsey, to have a problem with photos. In fact he often smiles for the camera or holds a pose for someone trying to get a shot. I know nobody likes a thousands flashes going off in their face, so that part I understand. I do agree that they could and are concerned about image, but the harder you make it to get photos the more crappy photos you will see. It is really a pointless exersize with the technology of the day... you are not going to stop it so you might as well embrace it and use it to your advantage. We are after all the people that buy cd and pay to see him. Why have some nazi dragging a fan out of a venue because they wanted a keepsake. Wouldn't it be better to just allow no flash rather than having horror stories floating around the internet of people being dragged from venues or cameras confiscated? Wouldn't it be better to have people saying, "Damn Lindsey's so cool he let us take pictures as long as we didn't flash." I bet the fans would self police the moron who used a flash anyway. I know I would.Best PS I got a guitar pic from the Chicago show. Funny thing is it's a Nine Inch Nails pic. LOL I guess they are just using whatever they have from another tour. Fuuny that... The one I have has a picture of a pic with a circle and line through it on one side and the NIN logo with the reversed N on the other. (The circle and line through the pic is rather ironic) Last edited by Pix; 10-30-2006 at 02:10 PM.. |

thanks for your well though out response...I appreciate that. sorry...but I am out of the loop. Has that been happening? I did read Wondergirl's experience, but that seemed isolated. Some spoke of a recent change with regard to camera policy...I was trying to speculate why that would be. We will never know I suppose. I will be bringing a camera to the shows and should security indicate to me to 'put it away', I will. Often I think it is those that continue after first warning that are treated in a harsher way. There are rules...sucks I know but one has to follow them or take the chance of a blown-out experience. I personally would never risk ruining a concert for one or two crap pics.

I heard that they escorted two guys out of the Chicago show as well for taking pics. The Nazi guy came up to a man standing next to me with a camera phone out and told him to stop taking pictures. Then, another guy in the middle had a camera and was told no pictures. They were really vigilant on Wednesday.

I would really love to know their reasoning behind it as well. Is it because Lindsey doesn't like flashes going off in his face? They are afraid of people selling the pictures? I mean, what?
I flew in from Texas to go see him in Chicago and I'll be flying to other cities this Wednesday and Saturday. I'd like to have some pictures to share with my friends who are overseas and cannot go to ANY shows.

I would be so happy and have the bestest time possible! :sniffles: I have no idea why there is a no-camera policy but I do know it is nothing new. I can however understand why there is one. Your comment about security venturing down with the light is interesting. It is annoying when security personnel are around and it is intrusive when they barge their way puffing their chests full of authority - right there with you on that - however I can see another side where it may be annoying to the artist...not just the lights but as I said the visuals from their side of the fence...in addition to those who don't have cameras...potentially having their concert experience overshadowed by security chomping down on the guy down the way who is camming after first warning. I doubt I will be taking my cam to every show I am going to based on the tales told here...I just want to dance during the fast ones...swoon during the slow ones...and enjoy the show. For all we know, as I said in another thread, maybe Lindsey is sick of it. Does he want security man-handling his fans before him...doubtful...does he want fans popping off a bazillion pictures whether for sale or otherwise...doubtful. If Lindsey felt differently, he would probably request that cams be allowed and there wouldn't be an issue. Just speculating...again.All of the above IMO and I mean no disrespect to anyone who cams. |
