Default This title will be released on November 7, 2006

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Stevie-Ni...e=UTF8&s=music

According to Amazon, Best of Stevie Nicks will be released this year. You can even preorder it. Of course no album cover yet.

About what I think of this compilation, I already mentionedin the "dissapointed" thread.

I think something got lost in the translation, Villavic

Rhino Records has cancelled this release, at least for now.

I don't think we, the hard core fans, are the ones really targeted by the record company when deciding if and when to put these "Best of" packages out there. Of course that's a little off when a new track(s) is thrown on the disc - then you know they are trying to get your attention. For the most part they are probably trying to attact someone that may not want to buy the whole back catelogue of material just to get the choice cuts from her career.

This was gonna be a waste of time and money anyway.
I wouldn't have bought it.

If anyone wants something cool, here's an idea :

Take your favorite downloads, b-sides, and other rarities, and burn them on a cd. In the order YOU want. Then, with his permission, take a few of Jazzy's unbelievably cool sig creations and make your own cover and insert art. Anyone with photoshop, 30 minutes, and Jazzy's art can probably make something better than the lame assed in house art directors they use at the label. It'll be head and shoulders above anything WB/Reprise/Rhino is gonna crank out. We have access to more rare things than they do anyway.
And you'll have the satisfaction of having made something cool.
We could have a contest.

Not to mention DT releasing 12 discs/2 DVD's "bootleg recordings" (For us diehard fans, Consisting of full length concerts, studio demo/outtakes & covering their favorite albums by classic bands) on their own label ytsejamrecords.com

I sometimes wish FM/LB/SN/etc. could put out material at a similar pace, but each time I hear the skuttlebutt that they may release an album I become very skeptical/cynical.

My issue with the b-sides and 7" & 12" versions that we all have, is that the majority of them are sourced from vinyl (aside from the couple that were included on 'Enchanted'), so there are cracks, pops, hisses and other audio anomalies. I wanted clear, clean digital sources.

Ah well.

Question

They are still showing it available as a pre-order on BarnesandNoble.com. I see no track listing. I don't know where people are getting this info.

I would rather have the cracks, pops, hisses and other audio anomalies of b-sides and demos than yet another version of Stand Back, Talk to me, Dreams, Edge of seventeen, ect....ect..

There are any number of reasons why it may have been cancelled/delayed. Stevie mentioned last year the possibility of her back catalog being remastered and expanded in much the same way as Fleetwood Mac's late-70s albums -- so it's possible that Rhino is working on something like that, and this compilation was going to coincide with those releases.

It's also possible that, if the murmurings about a 2007 Mac tour are true, they decided to hold it off until then -- to strike while the iron is hot.

I was also going to suggest that perhaps it was delayed because Stevie would still like to record something new for it -- but she's had a year to do so since the "best of" was first proposed. Surely, she would've had time to record something since then, if she wanted to.

It's nice to have the choice, no?

Fans who aren't interested would have the option to pass, while those who are, would have had the option to buy it.

No releases = no options.

Hm. Okay. That's valid. I don't really care about all that stuff very much. I'm not much of an audiophile when it comes to precise sound quality. And I like the hisses and pops. I miss that about turntables.

Ok, no best of. So she will have more time to work on her new solo.
