Default Janis Joplin & Stevie's Style

Since it's kinda slow here...

A friend asked me to find a nice picture of Janis Joplin for the "Rock and Roll Heaven" wall in his music room. In the process, I found some pics that really reminded me of Stevie. Or maybe it's late... I dunno...

Here's another one of Janis wearing a top hat. Don't recall ever seeing a pic of her wearing a top hat.

The second one is my favorite, so that will probably end up on the wall. It doesn't remind me of Stevie or anything.

The third one (the cover of "Pearl") reminds me of that one publicity shot of Stevie taken around the TISL timeframe.

Regarding the original 5 photos of Janis posted...I don't think the third picture (in color) is Janis! Production wise, it looks new, and if you look closely, the woman looks slightly middle-aged and her facial features are different. And I don't ever recall her hair being so carefully quaffed and curled. Looks more like a shot from a Janis tribute band.

yeah, that's definitely NOT Janis.

but, as far as the Stevie and Janis comparision, I think they are very similar, yet different. Janis' style is a lot harder to me, while Stevie's is very feminine and soft. I think Stevie probably (and as she has said) took several styles, merged them and added her own twist.

The "Joplin/Garbo/Dickens/Alice in Wonderland/random girl in audience at Fritz show wearing platform boots" creation that we have come to adore.

I remember Stevie saying in an interview that she never takes her mic off the stand, just like Janis Joplin never did (possibly the pre-vegas Jim Ladd interview?). Now I don't know if that's true about Janis? Maybe that's just something Stevie made up In another interview, I'm sure she also said something about getting her clothing style from Janis
