I Am Waiting is obviously a take-off on I Can't Wait.

What if this whole album is just this horrific racist tract with music?
That would be so bizarre.

Anyone notice the track called Juniper? Looks like there will be more lyrical crossover between the songs--"Juniper" is mentioned in Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind.

"I Am Waiting", yeah, is a Stones cover (therefore NO relation to "I Can't Wait" whatsoever), but "Try For The Sun" is also a cover, written by Donovan. Knowing THAT tidbit of trivia, then could "Juniper" be a nod toward Donovan's song "Jennifer Juniper", and NOT "SGCYM"? I AM surprised that "She Smiled Sweetly" didn't make the cut on this album...maybe it'll be on the next one. (and, hopefully "Gotta Get Away") And, to all those who are sniping about Lindsey "re-releasing songs", get real, GOS was never OFFICIALLY released (nor at this point, INTENDED for release), therefore, we really should never have known about those songs.

Gerald, you're right too. My main feelings are excitement and surprise about the release of the album. I didn`t believe in this solo album project. I think I am extremely biased because of my experience from 1997 to 2003 where I visited the Reprise website every day and learned to love the "tentatively scheduled" phrase. Of course quantity is not the main aspect. It was just my hope, knowing Lindsey`s album output rate to build a musical fat belt like some wintersleep-nutria. Musical fatbelt= a lot of songs, which will help us LB fans through the next years. So living in Lindsey world you tend to regard things from a different point of view. My favourite artist Niels Frevert put out an album with just 37 minutes of music. I didn`t mind because his album fit together perfectly and he doesn`t need 14 years for the next one. The quality of the LB songs- I don`t have any doubts I will be pleased. What was missed on SYW- the cohesiveness (is there a word like that in english?) of the album, will be there on the new solo record. I am sure about that. And that`s a good thing. What we can expect musically... I wouldn`t have classified SGTYM or DOR as acoustic songs. But yes, bass and drums are not prominent there. There still is some vocal layering also. The inclusion of that one indicates what he means about it. A mixture between SUD and DOR So I guess style-wise it won`t be like Springsteen's Ghost of Tom Joad. All in all I am very much looking forward to it.

But, with the exception of Out Of The Cradle, most of Lindsey's material takes more than the first listen to assimilate and digest. Between SYW and these next couple of albums, I think I'm going to regret ever knowing about GOS and its material. Congrats to those who have resisted them all these years.

You say that like it's a bad thing! Typically, the songs you like after one listen are the ones you forget about in a week, and the ones that take some time to sink in while you absorb all the nuances are the ones that you love for a lifetime.

Didn't mean it that way at all...I meant it truthfully, that Out Of The Cradle hit me immediately (and has stuck). Other albums of his (or his Fleetwood Mac material) take me longer to appreciate (if at all)

Hello all---
Wow. What a surprise---I just visited Lindsey's website for the first time in months, and I was shocked to read that he has a new album coming out soon. Of course, I came straight here to find out the REAL scoop...! I honestly thought we'd seen the last LB solo release. He's obviously got all the money he needs, with steady income from catalog royalties, and he's probably well-settled into his family life. So I figured he'd keep doing the occasional soundtrack tune...you know, keep it simple and relaxed. And now THIS. Taking a look at the supposed track listing, I'm a little disappointed, but I'll try to reserve any judgement until I hear the real deal. I'm just happy the thing is being released at all...! I just hope that it's good. I loved GIFT OF SCREWS and I liked SAY YOU WILL, but I have to admit, I was disappointed with the SOUNDSTAGE show, and I've always loved Lindsey's acoustic performances. I'm thinking specifically of the many promotional spots he did for OUT OF THE CRADLE---acoustic versions of "Countdown," "Street of Dreams, "Never Going Back Again," and others. On the other hand, the SOUNDSTAGE show just seemed...I don't know...sterile? Maybe even a little boring. I know---blasphemy! Believe me, it hurts to even have such thoughts, but I just hope the new album will be a fun new direction for Lindsey and that the songs and performances are good. I'm not one of those people who prefers "the old Lindsey" or "the solo Lindsey" or whatever. I like the guy's music, and I know he's capable of great things in any given moment, so I guess my expectations are just a little higher when he's concerned. mattl |
