as rather sad is that each of the rescuers from NYC that arrived in OKC, after the Murrah Building bombing to help recover the innocent who perished, died on 911.
If ya now go to the National Memorial in OKC, there's a good chance you'll see a member of the NYFD/NYPD paying their respects to our tragedy. They, the NYFD/NYPD members, are drawn here since OKC can understand in a way how NYC felt that September day in 2001.

I went to visit my little cousin who had just moved to Long Island to live with her Dad. Friends of the family suffered so many losses. It was unfathomable.

I remember one NYFD rescuer named Father Mike (I believe that was his name), who is the man shown in pictures (That were shown in magazines/newspapers worldwide) being carried in a chair from the WTC, after he was killed when a person from high above in the WTC landed upon him. This man of the cloth, died with his rosary in his hand...the same rosary that was given to him by then Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating when Father Mike came to OKC to assist in recovery of our dead. The National Memorial Museum has honored the fallen NYFD/NYPD from 911...Oklahomans have never forgetten how those New Yorkers came to assist us in our time of sorrow, We gratefully returned the same.

I agree. It's just a damn shame that many Americans have already forgotten OKC. I always think about the picture of the little girl being carried from the rubble. Was her name Bailey? For some reason that is popping in my head. All those poor children. ![]() |

I went to the OKC Memorial back in March of last year. It's powerful. My mom and I were in the first room, there were pictures on the wall and various items on display. My mom goes "Awww....look at the kids." and I lost it. Couldn't control my crying...and it continued on and off throughout the entire tour.
If you ever to to OKC....make sure to go to the Memorial.
