I'd love to see some friendly guidelines, especially about file and screen size. I mean - you can't post an attachment of more than 100K, but I had to block an animated sig (thru my browser) a few months ago that was nearly 1Meg. It's cool that I can block it on my end, but it still took more than 10 minutes to fully load before I *could* block it.
get real. it's 2006. the only dial-up-friendly site you'll find is google.

I guess it's subjective, what one considers "too large." I think anything over 300px in height and 500px in width is too large for a sig, but I think I'm in the minority there.

well, while some are large and it can be annoying sometimes, it never really bothers me that much, I mean, I like seeing what people can come up with. I hate all the dead, blank space in some...that's a waste, but if the sig picture is just larger than most, what's the big deal. now granted, having a HiRes pic from the NicksFix is not something I'm saying should be used as a sig pic.

that's what I hate, too. Jill's, for example, has a bunch of dead/blank space, so you wind up scrolling down through nothing instead of enjoying the sights.

But I've never seen a message board control design/presentation aspects of sigs & banners, so people pretty much just do whatever their little hearts want to do. Netiquette is virtually dead--it's all part of that "I care only about myself & what I want" attitude you find everywhere today.

I apologize, but the person who helped me with it, I specifically asked them to make as small as possible with what I had.

I don't know that it's necessarily an attitude like that. It may only be that some people just don't know any better, or aren't thinking that way.

Yeah, some people. But there have been dozens of others I've seen who, when the extremely tall sig situation was pointed out to them, just said, "I don't care whether you like it or not. I'm doing exactly what I want anyway & you can eat me."

So it's like, "Okay. Whatever. Enjoy yourself."

:SIGH: Well yes, that is pretty bad Netiquette.

I tried putting a photo in my signature, but it didn't work. It was a miracle I figured out how to put my name at the end of my posts.

I guess what you consider "too big" for a sig pic is largely influenced by your screen resolution. If your res is 800x600, the sigs are going to seem much larger than if you're using 1024x768.

^that's not all that's to it, I think. It's also sigs that are ten times as large as the message above it?
Anyway, wasn't there a feature in your personal profile here where you can turn off showing everybody's sigs
