Default Help Skcin or anyone who's been to Darien Lake

Well I've been to Darien Lake just not the place where they hold the concerts. I'm trying to get tickets to see Petty August 15th, and the best they're freaking giving me is section 406 or 405 row 5. I have the seating chart, but can people who've actually been there tell me whether or not those would be worth getting. Its not exactly like Stevie or Fleetwood Mac where I kind of NEED to be REALLY close. I just want to see clearly not have them look like ants and have good sound quality. Would the concert be watchable from the 400's, or should I wait for maybe getting better seats. If I narrow my search from 1 ticket down from 2 I get section 301, but i kind of want 2.

I've sat pretty much in all different areas in the venue, and if it were me, I usually wouldn't buy tickets in the 400 or 500 sections anymore, unless I really didn't have a choice. You have a full view of the stage, and it is a watchable show, but it is farther back than what I like. I guess I got spoiled from sitting close to the stage for too many shows!!!
Are they worth buying, well lets say they are a lot better than the lawn seating. So unless they release better tickets, go for it. Like you said it's not for Stevie or Fleetwood Mac where you NEED to be close. Good Luck!!

Oooh! Sorry I missed this until now! I wasn't online for a few days.

To be honest, the only place I've gotten seats at Darien is on the lawn. And the lawn really blows. Let me try & ask a few people & see what they think. They do have several big screens, so you should be able to see plenty. I do know that the 400 sections are NOT covered, so if it rains, you're screwed.

It says on ticketmaster that th 400's are covered. Does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like inside the venue, like they have for Blossom.

Really? Must be new this year, I swore they weren't covered. My best friend has been to several shows, I will call her later & see what she thinks.

Tom's set has plenty of his own screens as well - I've never been to this venue, but after seeing the show in St. Louis, I'd say anyone in a covered reserved seat would be just fine.

According to friend, as of late last summer the 400 sections were NOT covered. So if they are now, it's brand new for this season. She said that if you think better tix may be released, then wait. If not, they're not great seats but at least they're not lawn. Lemme see if she knows offhand how many rows are in each section....

Personally, I would wait. BUT I have no clue if TM usually releases better seats for Darien, so I don't want you to get screwed either.

EDIT - I'm looking at the seating chart - I think the 300 ticket would be much better worth it.

OK, she thinks that each section has about 12-15 rows, 20 at most.

So. If you take the 300 section single ticket, it would probably be 25-35 rows back. If you take the 400 seats (which I noticed are way off to the side) you're talking at least row 50.

The venue does slope slightly - so the 400 seats are higher up than the 300 seats, which is a plus. I don't know, dude, it's up to you. I'd ditch my partner.

Hawkeye - the first 10 rows in the 400's are covered, the back 5 row aren't for some stupid reason.

What's everyone's feelings on the chances of Stevie showing up at this show?

^ Honestly? I'll **** a brick if she shows up at Darien.

Maybe it will be different because it's a Petty tour, but Stevie hasn't been to Buffalo or Rochester solo since '86 (maybe '89...) She did have a Rochester show sched. in '01, which was cancelled because of 9/11. She has NEVER played Darien Lake (which is at the Six Flags halfway between the 2 cities.) Mac comes to Buffalo every tour, but they don't do Darien Lake, they always do the arena or stadium. I had heard at one point that it has to do with management, or the record label, or the tour promoter - like only certain promoters book shows at certain venues. I don't know if that's the case.

I'm not holding my breath. JK at Nicksfix finally responded to my email:

They are confirming shows now. I'm not sure if it will be all of the
remaining shows.

jk
Great, dude, thanks for your help. If they do confirm this date, I will do everything in my power to go.
