Default Matt Pond's Holiday Road

Anyone heard Matt Pond's interpretation of Holiday Road? It's a lot slower and almost melancholy. Pond had said there are only two lines of lyrics to interpret and that from "i found out long ago, it's a long way down holiday road", and "jack be nimble, jack be quick, take a ride on the west coast kick" that Lindsey is lamenting the fickle side of the rock in roll life style.

I'd try to post an mp3 but i'll need direction on that since youtsendit has me baffeled

Has Lindsey diverged his meaning behind this song other than to offer the happy go lucky, he was working on it and it seemed to fit with National Lampoon?

thanx

Thumbs up The song that started it all for me....

You can hear Lindsey talk about Holiday Road and read a quote from him here:

http://www.madnessfades.net/HolidayRoad.htm

I've not heard Matt Pond's version. To post it on yousendit...you open an account, then put in your own email address where is says recipient email address, upload the song and post the link here.

Thanks for the assist. In theory that sounds easy but for some reason when i post the link it never takes people to the file. *Crosses fingers* let me know if this works/ what you think of it. Now don't go dissing my boy mattpond if you don't like it. At least he made it his own, and created a new interpretation. It's not lindsey's, but isn't that a good reason to make a cover. Unlike the Dixie Chicks version of Landslide! I could infuse more emotion singing in my shower!

Wooooooo whooooo! The link works! What an accomplishment, I know. Small victories!

So now, let's discuss. Does anyone have a Lindsey comment on this song relative to it's meaning? I mean I heard how he made the rough better and the guy wasn't sure about it, etc. etc.

But doesn't Buckingham give us a little meaning? I mean to me, like Matt Pond, I tend to think, the song is a direct link to Lindsey's disillusionment with the rock in roll life style, the l.a. sceen, or life on the road in general.

Like most of the stuff on Tusk, and a few things on Law and Order, Lindsey likes to pace his angry/sad lyrics with upbeat music. One of the things I prize most about Lindsey's artistic merit is the inherent dichotomy.

So guess what i'm getting at, is that dispite the seemingly jumpy happy silliness of Holiday Road, I think at it's core it's written at a time when Lindsey was suffering the lifestyle? Does anyone know the specifics about when this would have been written and what could've been going on around that time.

I'm just super into this song and I can't find much about it.

Thanxs

Thumbs up Cool

It's a very dreamy interpretation of the song. I like it. Thanks for the link! Glad you got it to work.

Lindsey doesn't talk about HR much. We totally need a Storytellers concert from this man!! Frick, we need another ALBUM from this man!
