Default Lawn games

One of the things I love most about summer here is hainging out, having a few beers, listening to good tunes & playing lawn games. I suck at horseshoes, and I can't find a set of Jarts to save my life (yeah yeah, I know they're illegal, but I'm still hoping to find some at a garage sale. )

We play a lot of bocce ball, but I don't think we really play the right way. Not that anyone seems to care. Volleyball is always fun too.

I love to play Baggo, which is basically tossing beanbags onto a slanted board with a hole in it, trying to make it either stay on the board or go into the hole.

So silly & stupid & easy, yet so much damn fun!

My brother got us Blongoball for Xmas this past year, and we tried it out for the first time on Father's Day. It's a big hit! You toss these golf balls attached by a rope (they remind me of nunchucks {sp} lol) at a hurdle-looking contraption & try to hang it over one of the horizontal poles. Points depend on which one you hit wrap it around. Very fun.

Has anyone else played these games? What other lawn games do you enjoy?

Well growing up we had the sitting around and drinking part down - the games..not so much

My grandma had a pool growing up - so any games were made up water games between my cousins and I. We'd swim while the adults ate meat and drank..it's a miracle no one ever drowned.

The only lawn game I was ever exposed to was Badmitton - which I do enjoy

Oh - and what are Jarts??

I don't believe I have played the games you have mentioned, other than volleyball. I do enjoy utilizing supersoakers, slipnslide, and recently played Croquet with my nephew. I haven't played that in years and I had missed the SLAM when you hit someone's ball. I am very much into frisbee, and play with Shelly (my frisbee dog) every day.

Our neighbor's last name was Bader...so you know the swimgame "marco polo?" Well...when we were in our pool and they were outside my bro and I would say "master"..."bader." Children can be such little chits.

Lawn darts. You toss a big sharp dart at a plastic ring laid on the grass & try to make it in the center. They were banned years ago cuz people (esp. kids) kept getting hurt.

Oh that's totally something we would have done...thinking back now I feel so sorry for my grandma's neighbors. We must have been SO loud - but I had some of the best times of my life back then

LOL - ok...I kind of thought that's what they were. See - now that's something that I don't think should be banned - if you're dumb enough to throw a dart into your friends knee...that's YOUR business...not the government's

I love to sit out on the lawn on a breezy summer day, in the shade of an old elm tree (or a jacaranda tree), with a cool drink & some snacks, & just lie back & watch the clouds roll by overhead.

The smell of grass is one of the great pleasures of life.

Lawn games are fun, even though I am horrible at most of them. Washers, bocce ball, badminton.....I enjoy all of them. Cornhole (or Baggo ) is fun, but I've always considered that more of a bar game.

Godda**it! You beat me to telling them that the beanbag game is called CORNHOLE around these parts! We have two version of Cornhole, though. One is the beanbags described above, the other is played with big "washers"(like about 2" wide). We call both games Cornhole, though. What could be funnier that drinking a few, then asking someone if they want to play Cornhole!?
Me, I could do without the games. Gimme a beer, and I'm happy just talking. But, everyone else seems to love the games.
I put in horseshoes last week. Hell, the game itself is only $17 at Wallyhell, and will last you the rest of your life.

I am horrible at any kind of lawn game, I think. I wish we had a lawn for lawn games, damnit. My back yard is consumed with a pool and my husband's garden. There is not enough room for anything else substantial! And I am not about to play on my front lawn where all the neighbors can see me!!
