Is it like this everywhere or are the people in Rochester just jerks?
It's like that nearly everywhere here but then Boston isn't really known for being full of nice people!

I love Boston! Never had a problem with anyone there. What a great city. I must get back there.

Yes, this morning a very young guy did this for me! I was on my way to work and I cut through a hotel. He waited for me to get to the door, I was at least 20-30 ft back, far enough for it to have been polite for him to just keep going. It wouldn't have been a slam in the face and I wouldn't have cared. I do get very angry at rudeness. Well, I can't even tell you how flustered I felt when he went out of his way to be overly nice and hold it for me. There were 2 doors, he held both, and I nearly sprinted through the lobby so I could get the 2 exit doors for myself and not put him out. It was so weird. I wanted to say, "You're not from Boston, are you?" But I just said thank you, and then thank you again with a chuckle.

He had the blue-est eyes. Otherwise he was kind of dorky, but his eyes were dreamy.

I would certainly hope that kindness to others isnt a lost art. I ALWAYS hold the door for someone if I can.

Me too, and if they have a child or a heavy load I will open it for them, even if I'm not going through it! Kindness is not a lost art but I can't tell you how much rudeness I encounter regularly here because it is so rampant.

Some of the people I work with need to heed that advice

You know what's lame?

People who don't seem to bathe - yet dowse themselves in nasty skanky cologne. OR better yet, when that same person/s spills gasoline all over themselves - and goes home - but rather than changing clothes/washing themselves - they just put on MORE cologne. Lame. And disgusting.

I just wanted to add something lame.
When your cat is out all day, then they come right in and take a dump in their kitty litter. Like, immediately.

Why?
I hate you so much, little orange cat.

Why do you have a litter box if she goes outside?

Because they are not outside all the time. The other ones are thoughtful enough for the most part to go outside. But Oyenge seems to like the box.
She was inside a lot more than the others recently, too, because she was sick. Now that her fur has grown back in and it is warmer, she can be outside more.
Hey, Paula, want to rescue another cat??? I rescued her once, but I'd be happy to hand her off.

Nice sig pic, Jannie, I haven't seen that one!

Don't even get me going on Schmal-Mart. Every time I go into that place I mumble to myself that I will never go back. Their help is both clueless and useless! You know that you are in trouble when you go to look at a Compaq PC and there is a Toshiba sticker on it. Then you go to inquire about the Compaq PC and the clerk brings out an E Machines PC. DUH!

OK my latest pet peeve is the CD section at electronic and book stores. I went to my local Circuit City and they had one Tom Petty CD in the whole store. They had a million PINK CDs but only one Tom Petty. Then I get the bright idea to go down a few stores to Borders. Egads that was worst then Circuit City. First of all they had one long row of Pop/Rock CDs and they were all one big mess. I found 2 Tom Petty CDs and one looked as if it had been in a war zone. I would have thought that Borders would take more pride in their CD displays but it was obvious that they didn't give a rat's ass.
