I will stay inside and practice today. Too hot outside. (it's going to be 113F today outside...Or 45C for our metric friends)

Seriously? Holy Crap! Our fog has just burned off, the sky is blue, and it's 72 degrees.
Damn, that's hot.

It is very early, what an inconvenient truth.

I can take the cold much more than the heat. The thin blooded here start puting on Jackets when it gets down to 70F (That's 21C for the metrics) I don't think about a jacket until 40F or so. (4C) But then again I have a washboard stomach - with a little laundry on it.

but whereas Vegas has dry/arid desert heat, we have moist air (At 6PM it was 101 w/36% humidity which is very sticky).

People dont seem to realize that Oklahoma is a brutal place for weather (Been in the mid to high 90's everday since late April-I thnk we'll see this town's 118 record temp a few years ago be surpassed this summer...Since we had no Springtime)

That's great. I love that phrase and will probably use it to death now that I've heard it, is it yours?

You'd survive Boston well. The temps out there are crazy! Here it rained and was chilly (50-ish) the entire weekend. This was okay because I spent it working on my Kenya pics website getting ready to put up the film pics. Right now the weather here is perfect. I'm not sorry because how rare is it that I can say that in Boston? That said, I hope it cools off for you soon!

Well that's funny because I think of you as a heavyweight! I've taken a break from that since coming back from Kenya. It just lost its importance for a bit with me. When you see that kind of poverty it makes our complaints seem unreasonable. They aren't, it's just how my perspective has been shifted since returning. I am sure I will get involved again.

I've also been busy with my pictures and website. Plus I didn't want to fill my head with new things and forget what happened. I transcribed my travel journal so I could remember everything, adding anything important that was missing.

I'll bet. My take has always been that we are such a wealthy and privileged nation that things like health care, homelessness, and hunger shouldn't be issues here so that we can focus our attention on helping other parts of the world.

Same here. But that means you're a socialist! No one falls into a simple set of labels.

An anecdote - I was walking home with my roommate from a club last Thurs and I asked this guy on the street who was on his shirt. His friend was like, "Why, ARE YOU A SOCIALIST?" Jesus, I have no idea who was on that kid's shirt still. I'm like, "Frankly, yeah a lot of my beliefs are in line with socialism because I like people". Of course he had nothing to say to that except "WHAT ARE YOU A SOCIALIST?" Friggin drunk neocons man. What else was a Bostonian to do but call him "retahded". I said, "What are you, retahded?" and walked off. That felt great, man.

this nation being that privileged these days-When we went grocery shopping this past Friday there were fliers on the grocery store doors stating that "500,000 Oklahomans will go to bed tonight either without eating or being able to provide food for their children".

Let's see, that is an estimated average of 1 in 6 in this state of 3 million who need food...Not a good figure.
