Well, I wasn't planning on it. I am pretty sure that I am off that night but I am not sure if I am a back-up. Of course now I need a ticket. Any suggestions?

OK, so even though I'm not going to any of these shows, I must talk about it constantly. What songs have they done together, or what has Stevie covered of Tom's, or what songs have they both covered? Tell me if I've missed any.

Insider
SDMHA
I Will Run To You
Apartment Song
Free Fallin'
I Need to Know
Needles & Pins
So You Wanna Be a R&R Star
The girls did background vocals on Don't Come Around Here No More, and rumour has it that it was offfered to Stevie, or Stevie was supposed to sing it with Tom, or something like that.

I'd really love it if they did ANY of the above, to be honest. I will DIE if they do Insider (like I said before, they won't, so I will NOT get my hopes up just to have them crushed.) Realistically, I'd say we have a good shot for SDMHA, I Need To Know & Don't Come Around Here No More. I think DCAHNM would absolutely ROCK with Stevie.

Tom Petty always seems to skip Oklahoma City on every tour....Yes, Once again he skipped us, sad considering he has a huge following here and would more-than-likely sell out a show.

I just find it mind boggling that THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND would stoop to being an opening act for TP&tH. Who's managing the ABB these days and have they stopped taking their medication?

Ooh, I like the sound of that. I wonder what a standard TP setlist is like and if that song is usually part of it. (Of course, he probably changes his up every tour.)

As for other TP songs, I'd love to hear Stevie on Running Down a Dream and/or You Wreck Me.

I just keep thinking about how great she was singing with Henley on his songs during the Two Voices tour. She really seems to push herself when she's doing someone else's songs, so whatever she sings, it should be a treat.

^ Yes, he does change it up quite a bit. Last year was kind of a "greatest hits" type thing with only 1 or 2 new tunes, if I recall. I know he did NOT do Don't Come Around Here No More last year in Buffalo.

EDIT: Um, apparently he did! Damn my memory. Here's the setlist from last year from my old thread:

Listen to Her Heart
You Don't Know How It Feels
Breakdown
Free Falling
New Song - Turn This Car Around?
I Won't Back Down
Last Dance with MJ
Handle Me with Care
*pee break - missed 2, maybe 3 tunes. mark recognized none of them & said one was basically just a really long jam. One was Melinda, apparently a new tune.*
Learning to Fly
Don't Come Around Here No More
Refugee
Runnin' Down a Dream

Encore:
You Wreck Me
American Girl

I'll have to check the Petty boards & see what the buzz is about for this tour.

Here's a great tour history, looks like they have most setlists from 1997 - present.

http://www.gonegator.com/tours/tours_history.asp

I noticed Stevie was a surprise guest at 5 shows in 1981. How do we not have bootlegs of these?!?! Although, also noted that no mention is made of Stevie's appearances on later tours, and I have the Phoenix show from 85 on audio where they did I Need To Know, SDMHA & Not Fade Away.

I think that's his break between first and second leg. There's going to be a third leg, probably in September, that will have the CA shows.

More than five:

June 26, 1981...........San Francisco Cow Palace
June 29, 1981...........Inglewood Forum
June 30, 1981...........East Rutherford Meadowlands
July 3, 1981..............East Rutherford Meadowlands
Sept. 18, 1981..........Irvine Meadows
Sept. 19, 1981..........Irvine Meadows
Oct. 2, 1981.............Lakeland FL Civic Center
Oct. 6, 1981.............St. Petersburg FL
Oct. 8, 1981.............Gainesville FL O'Connell Center

Plus Boston, the date for which I don't know. You should have the recording of the first night at Irvine Meadows, which has been circulating for awhile. It has a great Insider on it.

Which reminds me: another song to add to the songs they've played live is "Wild Thing"

July 30, 1985, she also sang on Make It Better. I think this was the only show on the Plantation Tour that Stevie guested at. She did not show up at the Forum show that year.

I was considering going to Charlotte, but Portsmouth's closer, so I'll probably catch that show instead.

I can't wait.
