Default Eurovision last Saturday!

Hey..nobodys written about it yet, so I'm starting a thread...wasn't it great! Actually quite exciting and I'm so glad these guys won

For those who don't know, the Eurovision song contest is a yearly thing with European countries competing against each other with songs and groups (usually specially written for the event)Finalists are chosen thru elimination and countries vote for the best, quite ofen than not, the votes end up as political(ie you vote for your neighbour), but I think this year they all voted for the music and spectacle which was like a breath of fresh air (usually the whole thing is rubbish)..anyone else see it, what did you think?

I watched it, along with the whole country (since it took place in my city).
Personally I think the songs are always pretty awful, but it can be fun to watch with friends.
I was glad that this particular song won because it was something differentat last. However I never understood why the quality (of the show/songs) is so low. It started out as a quite serious (albeit corny) contest and now it is just rubbish, as Tuigirl said.

Completely missed it, though I usually try to see it. It wasn't even because the Dutch entry didn't get to the finals (I hated our song, so I thought that was deserved!). Yeah, the songs are awful these days, but aren't they're supposed to be like that, very campy, you know
Very glad Finland won! They've always have odd entries (as far as I remember, correct me if I'm wrong, though, Gaius) and sometimes that's what it takes to win this game. Remember Dana International?

haven´t followed the competition in 25 years,so i don´t care.
press (and people)have made it to be a big thing.internationally it´ll be forgotten soon.
abba is the only act that have flourished due to winning the competition.
british acts that have won it or were succesful, were succesful already before.
cliff, shadows, sandy shaw, katrina and the waves, but how about bucks fizz?
