Default Got my raise
Sorry for the self-congratulatory thread but many of you encouraged me to ask for a raise and I finally did and got it! All I needed to do was open my mouth. Although I never thought I would just get it without having to fight but that is what happened. My boss got promoted and no longer heads up my department. So before she left I asked for a meeting and asked her how to go about asking for a raise. If I should go through her or the company I contract through. She said, "I'll put that in for you before I go." That was it. And she did it. It's about 4% which is pretty good. It's been 3 1/2 years but still, it's waaaaaay better than nothing! Thanks y'all for pushing and supporting me.

Congratulations Suze! I guess sometimes all you need to do is ask, the worst they can say is no, right? But in this instance they said yes, way to go!

Great news Suze!! Isn't it great when it happens?

I got a new job on Monday. It looks like I'll be getting up to $1300 a month more than I used to get in my old job! This first week has been pretty cool too. I got a bottle of champagne on Monday, the staff (about 500 in my building) all got a complimentary American breakfast following the takeover from a US firm (we had pancakes, muffins, waffles, bagels etc). Today we all got a free American lunch and tomorrow we have a free bar at a local football club for us.. it seems a really great, friendly place and all the staff get looked after. Very different from my old career!!

That sounds awesome! It makes so much difference if your work is fun and the people are cool. And that's quite a raise!

You have mentioned that you were underpaid and that is why I'm extra psyched for you. Its good when good people get a break.
