Texas Democratic Voters: Please vote in the runoff!

[stargazer99]

Barbara Radnofsky (http://www.radnofsky.com/) is running for the Texas Democratic Senate nomination, to oppose Kay Bailey Hutchinson (who's a DeLay crony, of course). However, she's facing Gene Kelly in a runoff.

As I understand it (being pretty new to Texas), Gene Kelly has been a "spoiler" in several elections. People vote for him due to "name recognition", since he has the same name as a celebrity. Then, he gets trounced by the Republican candidate for whatever position he's running for. He doesn't campaign or have a platform, but people are dumb enough to vote for him because of his name. (Personally, I think he's being paid off by Karl Rove to run in every Texas election!)

Barbara Radnofsky is the only shot we have to beat Hutchinson. She has been endorsed by many newspapers down here, even some conservative ones. I just received a newletter from her campaign today. Apparently, as expected, early voting turnout has been very poor -- EXCEPT in Gene Kelly's hometown. They're coming out in droves. If he wins the runoff, there's no chance in hell of getting Hutchinson out of there. Radnofsky definitely will have an uphill battle herself, but at least with her, we have a shot. Especially if the Republicans continue to spiral downward. I just read that even here in Texas, Bush's approval rating is only 41%! That will hopefully hurt Republicans across the board, even down here. And with DeLay stepping down, maybe more people will wake up.

So PLEASE, if you're a registered Democrat in Texas, get out and vote!
