It's kind of like asking who would you rather kiss, Joan Rivers or Phyllis Diller. BUT, I do like "Second Time" better than the sloppy, repetitive, drivel that came to be WISYA.

"The Second Time" (!!!!)

"And your sorrows left you there...
Right before the lights came up
Do you remember you took my hand???
Do you remember... my friend?"

I love it.

Anyone who's been visiting the Ledge for any length of time, knows how much I love "When I See You Again." For me, it's Stevie's most emotionally stark, soul-baring song. There's so much longing and desperation in that vocal, and a growing weariness. I also think each repetition of the line, "what's the matter, baby," further reveals how dark of a place she was in.
It may be a flawed song, but it's beautifully flawed, in my opinion.

"The Second Time" isn't bad at all though... but I don't think Stevie's vocal really did it justice. To my ears, it needed a somewhat softer, more gentle approach. If she had recorded it about ten years before, it would probably be pretty well regarded by the majority of her fans.

I can't say that I'm a big fan of either song, but of the two I definitely prefer "When I See You Again." It's not the most exciting song but it's pleasant enough.

"The Second Time" on the other hand, is offensive to my ears. The lyrics and music are passable, if not actually good, but the vocal is like nails on a chalkboard - it makes me cringe and feel physically ill everytime I hear it. Put bluntly, it's the worst Fleetwood Mac song I've ever heard.

I prefer WISYA, but both are good. I like Stevie's raspy, fragile voice as much as her asskicking rock voice. But that statement probably belongs in the "unpopular opinions" thread. The emotional versatility of her voice amazes me... even when I don't love her words, I love the way she sings them.

The only thing I kind of wince at in The Second Time, is the "do you remember how the angels sang" line. I think it made the otherwise decent lyrics a tad too maudlin.

What he said. Also, the first time I listened to the song, I got chills when Lindsey came in at the end. It's kind of devastating.

The Second Time really does nothing for me. Bore fest.

Both these songs are very similar to me, both are slow, almost acoustic outro songs to both albums, and both are not really liked by very many people. I don't know how to make a poll, so....

Now is the time to choose: Which song is better??

My choice: Although I do love WISYA, i've always just had a love for The Second Time

HANDS DOWN
When I see you again

WOOT!!!!!!!!

Stevie's vocal on "The Second Time" is quite remarkable. It is touching, subtle and very moving. The lyrics are stronger also. I don't mind WISYA.
I just think her vocal on it is horrible. I would love to hear her sing it now.
I remember being so shocked that her voice was shredded on a FM project.

Defintely WISYA. I actually like her raspy/fragile vocals on it, and Lindsey's vocals at the end make it all the more beautiful.

You're always so negative about Stevie. It makes me very sad. It's like my heart is crying.

I just love both of these songs so much that I could never choose between them. It's like Sophie's Choice, I couldn't choose one over the other because it would haunt me till the end of days.

I need to go wash my hair. Catch you guys later!

ita!!
one of the reasons i like WISYA
and don't have a problem with her vocals
to the degree......or ANY degree that a lot of ppl here seem to have
it that it is very fitting to the song
it's raspy & kinda raw
just like the song

i dont know why people bitch about it all the time
it's fabulous!
