thanks!

I do it that way almost every time I sing Stand Back period. I think it's my favorite vocal rendition of the song.

From the ever-deepening Annals of Missing Footage:

1. Where is all the footage compiled for the Lifetime cable channel specials on Stevie from 1995/96? Is someone sitting on that? I think there were two main videos: one a concert (?) & the other a documentary.

2. The Cleveland show filmed in May 1980. All we've ever seen from it was used for the 20/20 program. WHERE'S THE REST, you bastards!

3. The Behind the Mask Tour rehearsal from Santa Monica February 1990. All I know about was four or five songs used in the Rocksteady show. WHERE'S THE REST, you heartless wankledoodles?!

4. The Compton Terrace American Heart Association benefit from September 1983 in Tempe. MTV cameras were there to shoot, presumably the whole thing, & parts of it were aired during MTV News shorts & Mark Goodman interviews. WHERE'S THE REST??!

All this stuff was "pro-shot," as they say!

Record it & post it! I want to hear it.

You could mimic any of the 1983 Stand Backs & that would be fine.

We heard a lot of stuff, though. Hey, I never got to hear the collaboration between you and Mikki. Any chance of reposting that?

The TV shows were sort of Late Phase ... & give you a little indication of what her spring 1984 tour would have sounded like. I was all pumped & primed ready to go to her show at Anaheim Stadium (opening act: Julian Lennon), & then it all ****in fell through.

But I also love the pre-Late Phase of the October & November shows of the tour: Irvine, Tempe, Los Angeles, Roanoke, Lakeland, Tulsa, Little Rock, Charlotte, Greensboro. Videos from those are my Holy Grails. If you just looked at the transcribed words of Stand Back on paper, you wouldn't even recognize the song. It was great. And her eerie howling on the tag out of "How Still My Love" made ghosts come out of the arena walls.

I sent Mikki a ballad -- Has Anyone, I think -- with just piano & she recorded a cool vocal on top of it. She gets the two low-fi tracks to blend together pretty well. I don't know where it is, though. I switched computers a few months ago & I think I lost a whole bunch (including the ledgies who went to Vegas).

Let's start posting karaoke stuff again!!

Well. There it is.

I suppose there are other tapes out there. Columbia lost many, if not all of Simon & Garfunkel's masters quite some time ago. But they still have some good tapes to pull from.
