Something I've been thinking about ...
Who does the guy in the video represent? With the shaking, the doll etc? And why is the only version of this video that anybody seems to have available [myself included] one that's been distorted, like a video tape? Just a thought. |

I think the shaking of the doll represents the 'broken rag doll' from 'Street Angel': I fell down the street/Like a broken rag doll/A Charles Dickens character/In a bunch of pretty scarves.' That doll is the shattered ego & the failed sublimation of the id ... to me.
I sort of forgot the words, but that's my impression. What does everyone else think? |

I can tell how much you listen to Street Angel.... I dunno. I thought it was a general "snap out of it, Stevie!!! You can't bring them back!" kind of thing.

wwwow. It's uhmmm - kinda symbolic. . . . Of her childhood - She meets the guy and . . . He sorta symbolically "takes her childhood away." The Director, in my opinion, is one of the few people who truly understood what this song is actually about. . . . ![]() It's weird though - all this stuff was Crystal-Clear to everyone back in the MTV age.... I guess the culture's kinda changed, in a way. It's distorted because supposedly this video was never Officially released, but something's wacky there because I distinctly remember seeing this on MTV, or at least on tv somewhere, "back in the day." Maybe there were legal problems or something, I dunno. "Well then suddenly . . . there was no one left standing in the hallway...." ![]() Last edited by Ghost_Tracker; 02-13-2006 at 07:51 PM.. |
