Default Who else here.......

Okay I was digging through a box and found my old trading cards. Anyone else use to collect these or still does? I bought a magazine (Nonsport update) and had no idea how many current shows have set(s) out now. (Just what I need ANOTHER hobby) Just curious....

I used to have complete sets of Olivia cards (Pin-Up model type stuff) and I still have all my X-File series cards (up to like season 3 maybe) and my complete Twin Peaks set. Those are about the only shows I collected on. I also have lot's of Marilyn Monroe sets...oh yea, and my Rocky Horror sets. Crikey, yea I still do have lots! Man, when you get involved w/ that stuff it is SO addicting. You are buying box after box (not per pack...BOX) just to get the foil cards or the lists or gawd only knows what else to "complete" your set. Mind boggeling, but hella fun when I was you're it.

Now they have Autographs and costume cards in the packs. I have been pecking at Xena and the new Battlestar Galactica sets. The base sets are very inexpensive, but the chase cards can get a bit pricey. And yes, box hunting is fun....but have to do it in moderation. I can only get stuff online anymore. No place in town carries cards much anymore. (I got the Olvia's sets also.... )

LMAO, yea, cause you are cut off from the world. haha. No, really, my mom and I got into it w/ the X-Files especially. We also had lot of Sci-Fi cards, but not lots of sets. Oh man, that painter. Borgis? No..ugh, I can't recall his name. And his wife Julie Bell, we had all her cards. Then there was Petty, like a Vargas type painter. Real true pin-up stuff. Then there are Bettie Sets. Damn you...now you got me wondering where all that is! lol. Man, I had more stuff than I recall. I still got em too! Oh, and this funky/kooky Japanese sci-fi type artist. Real neat stuff. Can't recall his name. I have some of his cards too!

Exclamation I used to collect...

baseball cards years ago, But quit when prices increased for packs due to all the over-rated premiums that were added to sports cards (ie-Cards that contained pieces of uniforms).

My older brother has about 750,000+ cards that he was saving for his son to one day collect, But more-than-likely I will end up with 'em (Since my nephew doesnt seem interested in sports cards.)

Kinda funny but I still have the Brockum music cards that came out years ago (I still own the Fleetwood Mac & Stevie Nicks cards from that set.)

I use to collect alot of those art sets. I have sets of boris, julie, archelios, Olivia, stout, hildebrandt, Betty page, Jenesko, Sorayama (japanese artist mentioned above), list goes on... and 60's sets - ratpatrol, flying nun, ...etc. (mostly a few cards not complete sets) ...and them of course many TV shows, and others misc. (xena, star wars, startrek - and spin offs, - Battlestar Galactica- and then shows from earlier - simpsons, charlie's angels...all kinds of crap.

I am going through now and getting the partial sets I have now completed - and looking at the ton of extras I have (anyone want to trade? ) Some I am missing only a few cards to complete the basic sets and others I am missing more than I have. I won't go after ALL the chase cards on some because it just isn't cash feasible. I did complete alot of the ART SETS AS THEY ONLY HAD 6-CHASE CARDS (CHROMIUMS, FOILS, ..ETC.) oops caps lock.... and since they are not as in demand you can get them fairly cheap.
I have the sets in 9-pocket pages and then binders. (Have to protect that Mork and Mindy set!)

I always go through cycles on my hobbies. I lose interest, put them away and dig them out a few years later and get hooked again. (kinda getting burnt out on Stevie/Mac collecting) I know shocking. But you can find those art sets complete for a few bucks on Ebay now. Cards kinda fell out of favor, so nows the time to get those. I have seen them as cheap as One Cent starting bid and win them. Basically they cost me for just shipping. a buck or two in total.

Oh lord, I have like 5 complete sets of Star Trek The Next Generation cards. What's hilarious is how none of the TNG stuff is worth spit now a days, LOL! My step dad searched every end of the galexy (har, har, har) before he finally found me a first series Cousuler Troi Action Figure. He made me promise I would never open it. I couldn't pay someone to take it now, and yet I still havn't opened it! Those guys need to get creative, I say Brent Spiner releases a sex tape. Then I'd have a good reason for keeping my promises! And a nice video to watch!

It all cycles.....give it time. It will come back in favor. Now is the time to fill in those collecting gaps (if you still enjoy it). It happens all the time with most collectibles. When people who had those in their younger days decide to get them again.... I remember you couldn't give away the Star Wars figures from 1978, and now they get big bucks in the package...So if you enjoy them and have the space, keep them.

I have everything packed away in storage containers. I'm sure I'll keep it forever, I don't think I'd ever have the heart to get rid of it. I used to collect all kinds of things but now my collection is only about a fourth of what it used to be. I have two big containers full of vintage Star Wars toys. My grandma bought them all at a rummage sale in the early 80's. When the kid came and asked her if he could buy the stuff back she gave it to me instead, LOL! All us grandkids have alot of fond memories playing with that stuff so I'm very honored to have it. I'm looking forward to sharing my Star Trek stuff with my boys. I have the transporter and bridge playsets, and though it takes up a ton of room it's way too much fun to pitch, LOL!
