I want to see that so bad, but I don't have anyone who would go with me. I don't want to go by myself.

Saw it last night. OMFG it was awesome. They don't do JC's entire life, just basically up until a little while after he and June Carter married, but it was really really good. I already knew that Joaquin had done a phenomenal job with the singing because I bought the soundtrack a few days ago, but he just nailed everything. He'd better get the Oscar this time.

Oh... and Joaquin in all that black and those shades... delish.

It was good. Reese Witherspoon blew me away, I thought she was even better than Phoenix. It wasn't anything monumental in terms of a biopic, pretty standard stuff and that detracted from it a bit, but I still liked it. Thank the stars it was better than that **** "Ray."

I also saw "Derailed" last week. It was, um, crap. If I didn't like Clive Owen (*swoon*) and Melissa George (*swoon*) so much, I would have walked out. Aniston's whimpering alone drove me batty. On the way home, all I could think was 'Christ, couldn't they have muted that **** during post-production?' It was also totally predictable and the last ten minutes were so ridiculous that I was cackling in my seat. A waste of time.

EDIT: ****, I forgot "The Dying Gaul." Saw that this afternoon and it blew me away. ****ing fantastic. I highly recommend it. Probably the best movie I've seen this year. Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott are Oscar worthy in it.

I don't get the man's appeal. I really don't. He's a huge behemoth of a man, I suppose that has some appeal in itself, but his face just seems average to me, and he's a good actor but nothing stellar (IMO). Can you explain?

Not really. I think he's a great actor (especially in "Croupier") and he's oddly attractive for reasons I can't quite explain. Sexy voice and sexy screen presence. Not that "Derailed" would give a good indication of how good he can be as an actor because the script and movie were both so putrid. It's rare that I'm truly bitter over losing a few bucks at the movies, but it's a week later and I still miss the money I spent on it.

Well, I've only seen him in three movies ("Closer" , "King Arthur" , and "Sin City" ) and was not particularly impressed with his acting in those roles or with the movies themselves (varying from total nausea in Closer, to boredom in Sin City, to indifference in King Arthur) but considering how different each role and each film were, I should have developed some opinion of him, but I just found him rather forgettable.

I will go to any movie with Patricia Clarkson and it was at the top of my list, but it exceeded my expectations. Really fantastic and bonechilling. I'm thinking now might be the time for her to finally get her Oscar. All three of the leads are completely unlikable, cruel people (not without reason, though) like in "Closer," but unlike that stupid movie, they're so realistically evil that it was uncomfortable to watch. Especially Clarkson, I get the willies just thinking about her.

I liked it a lot, but mainly for the acting. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener TOGETHER is just, well, awesome.

I quite enjoyed "Sin City," though it gave me a headache after so long. Owen's section was my particular favorite, actually. That scene between him and Portman in "Closer" at the strip joint is on my my list of one of the greatest scenes in a movie, too. Too bad the rest of the movie is ****, and it's unforgivable that they changed the ending from the play like that. Sorry to say that not even he could get me to watch "King Arthur." No can do.

You should check out "Croupier," it's a really great movie.

My problem with Sin City is that it's one of those movies that centers on style over substance. I have to actually give a **** about the characters in a movie in order to enjoy it... and that just wasn't happening.

That was also my problem with Closer... I just didn't give a damn about what happened to those people.

King Arthur sucked, though I will eventually buy it anways, just because I love movies based in that era. I did, however, gain some respect for Keira Knightley, if only because some of the costumes they had her in looked... well, rather painful.

I thought he did a great job. I agree at times he bordered on silly, but the story was moving to me. The woman who played his mother was magnificent.

To Kill a Mockingbird reminds me so much of my childhood [though not in a biographical manner) that I was intrigued by her mere presence made glorius by La Keener - though I wonder how Laura Linney may have been better in the part. or at least I'd kill to have seen it just because she was so magnificent in Kinsey. In many ways, Kenner surpassed Hoffman though. And Clifton Collins was beguling as Perry - sexual, pathetic, childlike, and calculating all in one moment. The best scene in Capote to me was when Hoffman BRILLIANTLY played that scene when he requested Perry for the facts of the night of the murder and then became a deadly weapon - sheer brilliance from one of the most versatile actors of our time.

I saw Sarah Silverman - Jesus Is Magic tonight.

I like her. I think she is funny. The movie has been getting pretty solid reviews, but I would have to say it is a bit overrated. I give it a B. Wait for the video unless you really love her. There are a couple of hytsterically funny jokes. To me, Sarah is more of a comic that makes me laugh just by her presence alone. She makes me snicker. I give her big props for being so un PC, and I like her persona, but this is not a great movie.

I never thought Reese was anything other than a just ok actress but this film has completely changed my mind .She was perfect as June Carter even nailng her singing voice way more effectively than Joaquin did as Johnny. He was good too .I knew he could do brooding intensity well ,but Witherspoon was the revealation.
