How exactly is Mary connected to Stevie?

I see her in old pics a lot but I never knew who she was.

Mary dated and then married Liberty DeVito, from Billy Joel's band. Liberty later toured in Stevie's band in the 80's. I think that Mary and Stevie just "hit it off" from traveling in the same circles and have been friends ever since. Mary and Liberty now live in Orlando and they are still close today.
There may be more of a connection that I'm not aware of. I just know this because a friend of mine knows Mary professionally and she casually mentioned a couple of years ago that Stevie was coming to florida and they were getting together.

I like her Tusk look but I like it more in 1980 than in 1979.
