I know, I usually try to avoid using the word "kinda", but sometimes it's called for.

Because they turn into free-for-alls, in my experience. Lately, my tolerance for @$$holes has deteriorated to less than zero, and I just don't think I could take it. At least on the moderated boards, there's a chance of me keeping a somewhat cool head.

I joined at the beginning of 2003 after buying The Very Best Of... CD and becoming a totally obsessed freak. Soon after, the shunned members of Mick's board ( ) came over, and it has never been the same.

Well, this is all very interesting. I've heard many different versions of this story and each has a different slant. I have to say, while I sympathize with the need to vent at the idiocy of some posters, you should always be prepared to take what you dish out. You may think doing it in private will make that unnecessary, but obviously that's not always the case. I for one keep in mind that every time I post something, private board / group or not, it might get out. And I have to take the consequences for it if it does.

But in the meantime, yeah, everybody else who likes to play the whiny victim needs to grow up, too.
I know where you're coming from, and I definitely agree that some stuff should just be ignored. But, at the same time, I'll always disagree that people should have to just "ignore it" in those times when they're being belittled or made fun of. And they shouldn't have to be forced to defend themselves either, just so they can post on some message board.

I'll give you that some folks are WAY too touchy... and maybe they're the ones you're really telling to grow up. But there are other times when folks shouldn't have to be expected or required to just "live with it," and pointing out a problem is the first step to fixing it... it's not mere "whining."

At any rate, I'm repeating more than a convenience store burrito, so with that... Stew out.

I know, I'm not sure anyone's actually used it since the 18th century, or the filming of Elizabeth.

And anyway, the q is silent.

Hell yeah they did. Victorians were one sexed-up bunch. Check out Christina Rosetti's poem "Goblin Market."

I heart Victorian British culture so hard.
