Everybody Finds Out

I'm so upset that more wasn't done with this song. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. The strings and other instrumentation on this song is top notch, in my opinion. I love the little break towards the end (the "don't you know" part). It could have been an awesome video or single and a remix would have been amazing. I hate that it was just left on the CD. I really like it and wish it had gotten more attention.

It should have been the leadoff single. Lindsey should have been shot for the "metallic voice" production on it. Stevie's vocal is blistering. They should have done it live- they could have done a change-up on the arrangement to allow the lead vocal to be done right.

I think SYW would have sold a LOT more copies if they had done a great video for this and promoted the **** out of the single. I mean, "Peacekeeper" is alright... but I think selecting that song as lead off single (combined with the running order) sunk the album.

I totally agree. I fecking loathe that tinny, AM-radio effect that he uses constantly. That vocal she laid down is one of the best she's done in YEARS. I'm not totally crazy about the song itself, but lately I've been playing it and loving it just because it's so darned fun. It's Stevie's "Believe."

I do wish that they had opened the song like the alternative version opens, though; loudly and abruptly.

This was THE most un-FM sounding song on the CD. It should have been kept for TISL or another solo outing. I don't think John Mick or Lindsey really played on it. Christine certainly would not have done those keyboards. Solo stuff... I love the song, but it just didn't "sound like them."

I didn't hear a single until I got to RTTG. Steal Her Heart Away should have been the single, Bleed To Love Her should have been a single, RTTG should have been a single with a super cool video. Peaskeeper and SYW? No. Killed the album.

You have a point in regards to it sounding very un-Fleetwood Mac. But that's my beef with the whole album; with the exception of a few songs, it sounds like two solo albums thrown in a blender and offered up to consumers. Great songs, but as an album, it's woefully inept.

I agree 1000% about Everybody Finds Out as a lead single. This song represents the album so much better as another side of Fleetwood Mac. An adult contemporary rock band that can create new and relevant music. Not the classic rock nostalgia band that everybody thinks of it as.

You and I both know this would have been a bitter disappointment live. Never would have been done in the proper key, and let's face it - Stevie never sings a song at this tempo live. I don't know why but she doesn't.

I love Big Lots too for trash bags and household tools and things like that. I wouldn't buy any of the furniture, clothes, decor or food if it were free.

She did a good job on RTTG the two times they did it

Also, I think in the DR doc. - she was singing it in the same key or close to it. So, I think she would have done it justice.

I couldn't agree more about EFO. It's always been one of my favorites off SYW and I think it should have been a single over any of the ones that were released. I'm not sure how it would have translated live without the great string parts though which really make the song. My favorite part is definitely the orchestral breakdown "don't you know". Such an upbeat, energetic, rock out song with great vocals and superb production.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it true someone outside of FM wrote the music to EFO and Stevie the lyrics? I've always wondered why in the world a band with 3 (in this case 2) competent songwriters would use outside people to compose their music

(even though they've had some great songs as a result).
