I picked Nirvana, but like Pearl Jam as well. Nirvana was sort of an era band for me.

well, this is an impossible choice. But nirvana didn't do it for me. Pearl Jam did, and through the totally brilliant cooperationalbum between Soundgarden and Pearl Jam "temple of the dog" I discovered Chris Cornell &co. I got hooked on Badmotorfinger immediately. But Pearl Jam's star grew and grew for me, bought all their regular albums and still they rock my boat. But I never saw a more powerful singer live than Cornell. Only one Seattleband that wins it over these two: the much longer existing Screaming Trees. They had Mark Lanegan and that is my favorite singer of all time.

so my choice in the end....pearl jam....

Alice In Chains

Soundgarden is the best out of those three, though.

Of course I'd rather see the Pixies versus Sonic Youth versus Husker Du instead. Those bands started the whole thing, the three bands in this poll just popularized it on a larger scale.

Nirvana were basically only Kurt Cobain, and his songs hadn't a big impact on me. Soungarden were quite boring, with the exception of a couple of tracks. Pearl Jam are a very good band live (when they're not all drunk) and I admire their policy with fans, so they're my choice.

In that case you should include screaming trees and mudhoney too.
