Ed Shultz Pulled from Armed Forces Radio

[SuzeQuze]

Ed was supposed to be broadcasting on Armed Forces Radio today but his show was pulled at 6AM this morning with no good reason given.* They were going to air the first hour of his program on that station. Recently Ed talked extensively about the rehearsed "conversation" between Bush and soldiers in Iraq. The person who rehearsed the soldiers (Alison Barber) is the same one who told Shultz that his show would not air on Armed Forces radio. He's livid and insists this is censorship. This might just blow up because I don't think it was legal for them to pull his show like that. He was told weeks ago it would air today for the first time and then was told at the last minute it would not, again with no reason given. This station is paid for with tax dollars so all opinions should be included.

*He was given a phony reason as reported at ThinkProgress

Barber told [producer] James Holm that the Ed Shultz show would not start on AFR today because her boss, Pentagon spokesman Larry DiRita, was out of the country and couldn’t approve it. Barber also said she was going out of the country soon for a week-and-a-half. Holm asked Barber if the show would begin when DiRita and Barber returned. Barber said she couldn’t guarantee that.
