No, of course not. But if she were to say that she's off of coke and pills but still lights up doobies, it would invalidate her anti-drug stances that she expresses.

That visual has me rolling.

No ****.

Couple her doobie smoking with menopause and it's going to be a less than thrilling show.

I got the impression that you had, from this comment:

To me, it sounded like you were saying that she was criticizing and lecturing folks who do drugs and/or smoke (whereas I've taken her comments on the subject to be of the "I did it, and I paid the price for it, but there's still hope for you" variety).

But if i'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Lecturing and criticizing are two very different things. She's lectured on more than one occasion about the effects drugs had on her and how people should learn from her mistakes, but I've never heard her criticize others for their drug use. It would be kind of pointless given her history.

I'm not being argumentative or disagreeing with you, I just wanted to say that I've never taken anything Stevie has said as being an "anti-drug stance." But more of a pragmatic, "this is what the hardcore stuff has the potential to do to you if you're not careful" life-lesson.

That's for sure!

Even if she does still smoke pot though, I still admire her desire to help other people who might be going through what she went through with cocaine.
She could very easily not talk about it at all, and have a "let 'em ruin their lives -- what do I care?" attitude.

A person doesn't have to have the strongest of wills or to be 100% habit-free in order to make a difference. You can still use your experiences to help people, while remaining a fallible human being.

dissention, i think that somehow you are expecting WAY too much from stevie. i don't think that a lady in her 50's must share her medicine cabinet (nor her stash for that matter) with the entire world, even if she's an artist i happen to like.
whenever she's being asked about subjects like this one, i take everything she says with a tiny grain of salt; there are certain rules you have to play by (in terms of public image, and that sorta crap) so i'd never expect the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth from her, but again, i think it's something she deserves to keep private in her age and state.

Of course that was what he was saying and now he is spinning it. This is because he equates smoking pot to a coke and Rx drug habit, a position unsupported by the facts. But, I am enamoured by him anyway

I don't think she really needs to share half of the things that she does (abortions, drugs, failed relationships, etc.), but the fact of the matter is that she opens her mouth to make such comments, so it should be expected that people will have different reactions.

I take everything that chick says with a grain of salt. She changes her stories more frequently than her panties.

She should keep a lot of things private, but she built her career on drama, so she'll keep spilling the beans until she croaks.

No, I just expect Miss Honesty to fess up to still using illegal substances (if she is still using them) when she talks about people learning from her mistakes with drugs. But if she admitted to lighting up, it wouldn't reflect positively on a woman who had numerous drug addictions in the past and went through two stints in rehab.

She admits she drinks liquor despite having two drug addictions which required rehab. How is that any different?

I would also reflect on being illegal. Why in god's name would you expect her to admit to current use? To get the FBI at her house?

Maybe for her to talk is therapeutic, maybe she thinks she can helps someone sharing her experiences (I think that's true by the way). I really doubt she expects to be canonized but shouldn't she have the benefit of doubt?

Well, that seems a reasonable behaviour with everyone, or you think the other celebrities are sincere by default?

Meh, I'm not her therapist. I think it's admirable that she as honest as she is, but sometimes I think she's goes overboard into TMI territory simply because all of her admissions tend to color my enjoyment of certain songs. That's why I tend to shy away from a lot of her explanations about them; I want to interpret them on my own and not think "Oh, wow, this song is about her abortiona nd that one is about her torrid affair with Mick."

She's the original rock martyr. She crows about everything she gave up at every opportunity. She was even doing it in Rosanna Arquette's last documentary.

"Celebrities" and "sincere" don't belong in the same sentence together.

My point, again, is that she would be illegal if she admitted to currently using it. Conveniently skipped over, eh?
