I really kind of got the feeling Brooke was seeing Stevie up there looking fab, sounding fab and emitting tons of fab and, in her own fandom, was overcome with joy and emotion - especially during landslide

Oh so thats the lady they keep panning to in the video. I didn't really care....she didn't know the lyrics. Waste of film.

I think she was emotional simply to see Stevie back on stage for the first time since her Dad's death. Guys, this was a really, really big deal for Stevie. And P.S. she almost didn't go on. That's why she was on later than she was scheduled to, I think. So I think maybe Brooke - and everyone else who was crying - was just so relieved and happy to see her hit the stage dancing once more. That's the way it seems to me anyway. ![]() Last edited by Ghost_Tracker; 10-01-2005 at 04:57 PM.. |

How do you know this? Did Stevie tell you that herself? Why would Brooke Shields, or anyone else (besides us) even be aware her father died? Why would that get Brooke so emotional? And based on the concert performances at the beginning of the week, it seems Stevie went on right on schedule. I don't mean to offend, but I think you've been drawing some pretty melodramatic conclusions about Stevie and her reaction to her father's death ... based on... I'm not sure what? Please enlighten, because you seem to have some pretty deep inside information...

And where are you getting your information? Stevie almost didn't go on? How do you know? She went on later than scheduled? No, she didn't. Just like you said last week that there has been concern that Ms. Nicks won't get over it and will just wither away. I mean, c'mon.

So you think Brooke Shields, dancing one minute to Stand Back (which she was) would just burst into tears because of the death of Stevie's dad? That's absurd. Why would she go from dancing to tears? She was definetely laughing.

Maybe she had to pee, and she didn't want to miss the show.
Just a thought. ;^) |

about her Dad's death and how it has affected her and on comments and letters she wrote for the fans (also on Nicksfix) recently about how sick he was this entire past year and how he meant everything to her. Yes I know she's strong, and she'll get over it, and all that. I just feel badly for her because she's indicated that they're very close. And 7 weeks isn't a long time in grieving - My Mom's Dad died when my Mom was around the same age, and she told me that it took 7 years before she felt normal again. And they weren't actually all that close. Stevie's indicated many times in interviews that they were very close. And he felt the same way - he could barely talk about her and her music without getting choked up. They were Bonnie and Clyde, etc. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound "melodramatic" or something, but I've just been trying to convey that this isn't business as usual for Stevie right now. You don't need to know anyone who knows someone who knows someone, to see that. So I'm sorry if it came across the wrong way, I just simply can't help feeling for her, knowing what they said about how they felt about each other, and what Stevie has recently publicly indicated about how she is currently feeling. But I do think that The Today Show performance went wonderfully well, and if The Australia Thing is for real then I think that that's a great sign. But I honestly do feel that we shouldn't take her for granted - she's fifty-seven, and it's not like she needs the money. The death of a loved one can often cause one to make radical life changes. So I'm simply trying to say - Don't take Stevie for granted. ( )And if you can find them - they're probably on the Internet - check out the lyrics to Stevie's song "Amber," which is about her Dad and how they felt about each other. You'll see what I mean. I think it's on B/N.net I can also tell you that I myself felt very emotional during "Stand Back" as well. It could have been my imagination, but it seemed to me (and others I've asked) that she was struggling, especially at the end. I was sitting there praying that she'd somehow find a way to get through it. Granted she's a lot older now, don't forget this is the same person that used to start crying onstage at the drop of a hat! (for example a performance of Landslide all the way back in the mid-70s - she started crying and almost couldn't do it, and yet she's LAUGHING at herself at the same time for being so - emotional.) Well, I probably should have stressed that technically I was just guessing. But I thought I heard Matt Lauer whisper something about it to Katie Couric, irritably, and Katie C. was like, "Give her a break, her DAD just died" etc. - I don't know details there I admit, but the two of them seemed a little irritable. I definitely admit that may have been my imagination. But also - I heard that before they went live, Sharon C. did "Landslide" all the way through, with the other musicians, and I believe Stevie was not there (onstage). There's been speculation - and I admit, people were just speculating - that the reason was, they wanted to see if Sharon could do it if Stevie was not up to it. That may have been just a "Sound Check" thing, but I've never heard of a sound check where the backup singer takes the part of the lead singer. It also seemed to me that they moved the cooking segment earlier - that's normally at the end of the show - and I guess I mistakenly thought that the reason was that Stevie wasn't sure. So I guess I was flat-out wrong about that. But me? Seven weeks later? I'd still be a zombie. So I don't blame her if this was very difficult for her. Three cheers just for doing it. |
