Exclamation Nope...

only new release we purchased was the Keith Urban "Livin' Right Now" DVD...Otherwise it will be late October/Early November before before I purchase any new releases.

I own not a single Sheryl Crow disc, And truthfully I am sure that will not ever change (I have nothing against her, Just not my type of music at all.)

It's earthy, folksy, and acoustic guitar oriented. Yes, there are no standout tracks. But I think it was meant to be an atmospheric album, and be heard as an ALBUM... not just hyperactive soundbytes for MTV. It's such a great chill album. As soon as I heard the first few tracks I knew there would be this kind of backlash from the general public, but I for one am glad Sheryl is comfortable enough with herself, and had the guts to release this kind of an album. Kudos to her for breaking her OWN mold.
I agree with you all the way! I got it today and listened to it twice, in a row...I love it! It is, what I believe, to be her best album other than the classic TNMC!

You seriously think it has better songs than the stuff on her eponymous album? Better than A Change, Sweet Rosalyn, If It Makes You Happy, Redemption Day, Hard To Make A Stand, Love Is A Good Thing, Everyday Is A Winding Road, Oh Marie, etc?

Well it's not so much song-by-song "greatness"...a lot of those songs you pointed out are really great songs, I suppose it is more of the overall feel of the album...very mellow...which I like!

btw...If It Makes You Happy = TERRIBLE SONG!

Come on...it is overplayed CRAP! Sheryl is so much better than that garbage!

All I Wanna Do...remains my fav. by her (go ahead and laugh if you wish...it's my drinking song) and Can't Cry Anymore is a close close second!

Btw Tiff, I agree with you about the production. I really dislike John Shanks. I think Wildflower would have benefited from a different producer.
At the beginning of the year there was a Billboard report that she was going to put out two albums one right after the other or both at the same time, can't recall exactly, but basically she said or it was stated that one album was a real departure from the norm, sort experimental, one she didn't think would do very well, and the other album was the usual fare. Something happened with the way things were supposed to unfold so the two album thing was off. But I have a feeling this is that sort of "experimental" album and the other will follow. Might explain why there really isn't a tour to back this up. Maybe after the winter the other will come out.

I think you are right. But if this is the experimental album...I LOVE IT! I'm telling you this is really becoming my favorite album from her!

Perfect Lie is simply amazing!

I love that song. It was a big departure from any of the TNMC material, and the theme of drug abuse was presented in a suitably dark manner with a wink thrown in for good measure. Kick-ass vocal, kick-ass song, and some of those lyrics are killer:

I've been long, a long way from here
Put on a poncho, played for mosquitos,
And drank til I was thirsty again
We went searching through thrift store jungles
Found Geronimo's rifle, Marilyn's shampoo
And Benny Goodman's corset and pen
Well, okay I made this up
I promised you I'd never give up

You get down, real low down
You listen to Coltrane, derail your own train
Well who hasn't been there before?
I come round, around the hard way
Bring you comics in bed, scrape the mold off the bread
And serve you french toast again
Well, okay I still get stoned
I'm not the kind of girl you'd take home

I intensely dislike the new album because it has *none* of trademark witty & sly lyrics, or any lyrics that truly seemed like confessions of true heartbreak like in "Riverwide." She replaced biting humor and raw emotion with "If butterflies are free to fly..." Fug, man.

The other album has been scrapped; the one that came out is the "experimental" (ha!) album.

It's not the lyrics I despise...great lyrics I will agree! It is the song itself...if I hear it one more time I believe my head will explode! I just did really care that much for her self titled album! Tuesday Night Music Club was just so freakin' amazing to me, that is why I really feel that this new album is sort of her REAL follow up to that one!

So there is no other album coming out then? hmmm...oh well I like this one so...

And to top it all off Liz Phair's new one comes out next Tuesday along with another singer that I love Sara Groves! WOW two albums I have to get!

I have heard that Liz's album is going to be very "love" oriented as well...which is NOT like her at all...but I'm willing to give it a try.
