I do not think many people blasted her for the the intent behind the song. Some people just found lyrics "just like a river - its never ending" trite. Personally, I love the song except for two things. I think the gimmicky voice is out of place and there should have been a third stanza. But, the whole dark to light concept is stunning and the urgency in her voice at the end is spellbinding to me.

Thanks Jason. Interesting that they chose to blast her for trite lyrics on this particular song when the message was so deep and of such magnitude. It's not like she doesn't have plenty of other trite lyrics in songs. That's disappointing. Maybe those people should write a better song!

In Fact

Dissention - is name that really burns
my ass up don't you know
it is fire in his plume
Dissention - there is a chance that
He is sea hag
out of his mouth comes drool

I like to rebut him
I have the right ...
I like the way he cowers and defends
poor thing - crying in the night
He's like a harpy living in a dead tree
His drivel is spittle
His words so illogical
you'd think he's high

I'm no writer, that's for sure, but I almost think I could write a better song.

Ha ha I love you for that!

And all along I actually thought that people loved the Illume lyrics. They are always quoting the diamond snake in a black sky bit. I'm out of the lyrics loop apparantly.

Many do like it. I do - though I think some are a tad awkward to read. But, she has that way of making somethat that looks awkward sound brilliant when she sings it. Of course, I also apply that to "the forgotten chimpanzee" so what the hell do I know

I'll get right on it.
Actually, To be honest, it's also the music I don't care for. It's okay, though. I hated the song when I first got SYW (and I don't really listen to it at all) but I listened to it a few months ago, and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. I give it a "C" - average.

Curtis!!! You owe me a pepperoni cheesesteak because I just spit mine out all over my keyboard (I read The Ledge at work during lunch). That is too funny. I'm gonna have to do that next time.

BTW, did you guys ever her the Fleetwood Mac jam bootleg where they are playing something that sounds like Eyes of the World, and Lindsay is singing the ba ba ba part and Stevie is singing "Whoa whoa, I hope you make it". Wild to think that two totally different songs could come out of one jam. It's pretty cool.
