So, I do not think that was a factor for more than .01% of the people who just thought they could ride it out in their houses.
Yeah. It's all their fault. Happy now?

If I was there with a kid, they would be my first priority. Not worrying about my job or my house or my stuff. I understand perfectly well that some people had no way of getting out. I have FRIENDS down there who could not get out. It's the people that could, and didn't, that infuriate me. The ones that put their lives, their children's lives, and now countless other people's lives at risk when they didn't have to.

Are you seriously arguing that these able bodied people helped in any way by staying home? I mean you are sounding as if you are saying they did the right thing, when they most certainly did not and many of them and others are dead because of it. Don't you think if 10,000 or more of these able bodied people had obeyed the evacuation orders and gone to the dome, the evacuation would have run more smoothly and the NG and others could have concentrated more on the people not able bodied and possibly be done by now. That is just stunningly apparent to me.

Note - I am not saying they deserve death or not to be rescued. I am just noting that they are one of the problems NOLA is facing and that problem could easily have been avoided but for their behavior.

I do not understand why you are taking offense at this.

Interestingly, if they are randomly firing guns in a city where you cannot really tell where the shots are coming from and have no apparent law and order - how is he going to chopper into NOLA. My bet is he flies over NOLA out of gunshot range and then makes a speech at the airport, which is relatively abandoned.
Exactly! I just said to a co-worker, "No wonder Bush hasn't visited NOLA yet, everyone there is armed, dangerous, and pissed off!"

3,000 have been evacuated to Lafayette, where my parents live. There have been several car jackings, rapes, robberies, etc. - all within blocks of the dome there. Martial law may be declared.
